Except for suggesting maybe Le Bon used auto tune... Other than that very positive!

Who attended the Manchester concert? Was Simon's voice re-recorded or did he use Autotune like the critic said....I don't know if Simon ever uses Auto tune in concert--I doubt it--but then again he never heard Simon LIve--lol

All you have to do is look up various clips of the Manchester show to compare, keeping in mind that an audience recording is not going to sound the same as a soundboard recording due to various acoustic things like where the person filming was sitting in the audience, etc which would affect how it sounds. There are plenty of them on youtube. Simon sounded no different than he ever sounds.

I've seen the band almost a dozen times. I've often thought, especially over the last decade, that Simon sounds better live; the exception being in Baton Rouge last fall where he sounded as if he had inhaled helium. With that said I have little doubt that his vocals were sweetened and smoothed a bit in post production. I don't see any problem with that.

I am sure the production was just done to slightly enhance his voice, but you can clearly hear him singing in the opening and really sounding so smooth and warm and it is just SO good!! Simon's voice IS stronger now for what he went through. People just assume that he still sings like he did in his 20s. They underestimate him.

I think normal post production work was done on the whole performance, instruments and vocals included but I don't think it sounds the way it does because of autotune. So I wasn't meaning it was just "Ok here it is let's stick it on a cd" because hell even live records in the 60 and 70's weren't normally done like that. I just meant it's easy enough to hear how good he sounded by looking up the Manchester shows on youtube, where they can hear exactly what the audience heard that night. I agree, I think people judge Simon by really old performances that were sometimes done under less than ideal conditions, with only on stage monitors or in some cases lacking rehearsal time(ahem...Live Aid) and just generally not as good singing techniques as he has now but he's really a terrific live singer.

Mail on Sunday included the CD in its list of media releases for the coming week (no review). Spoiled themselves by making a comment to the effect that it was all the classic hits "and you'll be pleased about that". Not nice. This is what they are up against. They are NOT an 80s band and the new stuff is fresh and relevant.
