I wasn't even following the news then(I didn't know Simon had vocal problems until almost 3 months after he got his voice back) but when I went back and read stuff, it's just like "Geez people way to make it all about yourselves, you'll be out some money, he and the band could have been "out of" their career", not to mention what it would have been like psychologically. I don't even like to think about it.

I don't even like to think about it. True, but to be fair, there were a lot of people who were just hoping the band would cancel all the dates so they wouldn't have to make the trip. They already knew that Simon was having vocal problems, but they were kept in a loop at the same time as a result. I think that frustration came from when they would only cancel a date or two at a time, which I think John later said was for insurance reasons.

Nice that Dom was interviewed.
Just a thought on the comment John made - "Andy's were big boots to fill in terms of Duran's sound.... "Dom has no ego, he just wants to play guitar ....." Hmmm. To me, I can't imagine anyone but Dom on guitar now - he has made it his own and really rocks on stage. And don't flame me, Andy & Warren fans. I would feel the same way if someone took Simon's place.

stolenleopard, I agree. I was so happy to see Dom be part of it. He gets left out of a lot. "Official member" or not, he worked on this album and is with the band, touring. He is expected to be part of things for now. I am fairly sure that he plans to work on the next album as well. I do like that John acknowledged Andy's place as someone who was important to the band. That, to me sounds like things between them are a little better and from things Andy has said, he bears no ill will. I KNOW Warren doesn't and after how he was cast aside, if anything, he would have a reason to harbour some resentment, but he has none. I also agree, Dom has no ego. He is SO easygoing and I love their chemistry onstage. He interacts with everyone, and doesn't ignore nick or Roger in the back.
