I suspect Safe is in the set because it gives Anna Ross something more to do than just sing background. Although, frankly her voice is NOT suited to this, I love the song myself, but cringe a bit when she sings it.

I for one, am hoping they still play TTS in August for us in the US. Mediterranea would also be great, but I think they only have plans for the Italy shows. Frankly, I just hope they play ANYTHING that was not played last coupld of times through here. ESPECIALLY the songs they made us THINK we were going to hear after the rehearsal shows. SO annoyed we were teased that way.

'Taste The Summer'!?!? Really?? Did this actually happen??
Oh my god, I am totally stunned. I have tried for years to forget that 'Astronaut' exists at all and now they are playing this LIVE?!?!
Like many others, I have been very critical of the set lists on this tour. They are just too safe, unimaginative and just plain tired.
They have so many great songs to choose from, yet we now have 2 songs from, what is for me, easily their worst album!
I guess we can only leave them to it. I just hope that they aren't using this play of 'Taste The Summer' as practice to play it at the Olympics concert in London?!?! I can picture it now, Simon trying desperately to get the crowd into it, and it falling completely flat!

Wow. very split over TTS. I love it and hope they play it in Tucson and the US dates.
I also agree to drop Before The Rain and Safe and bring back Being Followed and Leopard. They could even open the show with Being Followed and I'd be happy.

Pulling on strings here, but when I think of how many songs that could be played and should be played: Late Bar Anyone Out There Sound Of Thunder Khanada Like An Angel My Own Way Lonely In Your Nightmare Last Chance On The Stairway Shadows On Your Side Of Crime And Passion The Seventh Stranger!!!!!!! Winter Marches On Hold Me So Misled Proposition Land Palomino I Believe/All I Need To Know Edge Of America My Antarctica Serious UMF Love Voodoo Fallen Angel Sin Of The City Breath After Breath Buried In The Sand Undergoing Treatment Michael (Though I Don't Think Simon Will Ever Sing It Again) Sinner or Saint Ball and Chain Who Do You Think You Are So Long Suicide Last Day On Earth Sun Doesn't Shine Forever Mars Meets Venus Finest Hour Want You More What Happens Tomorrow (W/ Silent Icey River) Point Of No Return Still Breathing Chains One Of Those Days Beautiful Colours Virus Lonely Business (Here she can sing more also) TV vs Radio Pretty Ones Just to name a few........

It's very annoying that 'Last Chance On The Stairway' is never played live. Along with 'Lonely In Your Nightmare' it is one of the standout tracks on 'Rio' in my opinion and I also think it's easily within their top five songs of all time. Rio has only got nine songs and it only spawned one B-side. Out of those nine, there was four hit singles ('My Own Way', 'Hungry Like The Wolf', 'Save A Prayer' & 'Rio), a fifth single that wasn't exactly a 'hit' but remains one of their most critically acclaimed songs and seems to be generally quite well known with the general public ('The Chauffeur'). It has also been done to death live. Then you have 'Lonely In Your Nightmare' (played a couple of times but the less said about the previous performance the better), 'Last Chance On The Stairway', 'Hold Back The Rain' (played live numerous times) and 'New Religion' (also played numerous times, although seems to have been rested of late).
They played LCOTS shortly before the release of the second album, in fact there is an audio recording on Youtube where Simon introduces it as a 'new song'. Apart from that, it's only outing was during the RCM 'Electro Set' in 2007, but sadly they stripped the track of it's fantastic bassline and guitar lead. It deserves to be played properly...

TTS is only more hated in this house by Bedroom Toys. Terrible song, would get more love for Shotgun!

From what I remember, Lonely in Your Nightmare has only been played once over the past 10 years (at the fan show in the summer of 2007). With regards to LCOTS, I know a lot of fans count it as one of their favorites by the band. I like the album version enough, but maybe not to that degree. That being said, I personally LOVED the electro set version. Sure it's missing some of it's original instruments, but hearing it stripped down to some basic elements personally does a lot for me, almost like some urgency is added to the thing (if that makes sense). I listen to the version they did in Detroit back in 2008 pretty often too. TTS is only more hated in this house by Bedroom Toys. Terrible song, would get more love for Shotgun! Not quite, haha. I can go with or without TTS, but I do prefer it in its original demo form.
