Crue Fans - 'The Dirt' Movie - Hollywood Rumors

Motley Crue and Nirvana are set to blow minds on the big screen this year. The flicks, which hopefully will be more like The Doors movie than the KISS movie, likely will star Johnny Depp and Ewan McGregor.
The Motley Crue biopic “The Dirt” is nearly ready to begin filming. Rumors are circulating that Johnny Depp will play Nikki Sixx, and believe it or not, Ashton Kutcher as Tommy Lee.
According to Starpulse, Courtney Love — who owns the rights to the Nirvana movie — supposedly wants Ewen McGregor to lead as Kurt Cobain. McGregor has experience with drugs, groupies and loud music due to his role in Velvet Goldmine.

i'd love for this one to be true - but they can't all be true ... otherwise, johnny depp would be playing nikki sixx, freddie mercury, sweeney todd, shantaram, the russian spy ... and those are just the ones i've heard mentioned in the past week or so! LOL

anyways, i know there are crue fans here who keep up with their news much better than i, so i thought i'd mention it here and see what was known ....

I heard that as well. I'm not a huge fan of them. I do like many of their songs. I have their double cd greatest hits. I would go to see that movie. Rock and Roll excess to the extreme.

I'd see a documentary, but for the most part biopics like the one they're cooking up fall well short of the story. And as a music nerd (and drummer), I hate seeing actors who can't actually play pretend they're doing it. It always looks phony.

Besides, any 'news' item that features this sort of circular logic...

Johnny Depp probably gets mentioned as often as he does when these sorts of projects get greenlit because he tries so desperately give off the rock & roll rebel vibe himself. He's a gifted actor, but he's already done the rocker pastiche in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Why go there again?

As big of a Motley Crue fan as I am, I don't know if I'd go see it. Like stuporfly said, I'd be much more likely to see a documentary. I read the book, why do I need to see a bunch of people acting it out?
