interesting that he's pictured playing a Yamaha SG series guitar similar to the one Andy played on the first few albums

Just sent Katy a question about this and Dom's involvement on the new album & tour.

Who knows. It will be interesting to hear what the "official" word is from the DD camp.

To be honest I would welcome a different style on guitar for DD, even if they just bring him in for writing sessions. Dom isn't bad, but his playing isn't as complex as Warren's and more restrained compared to Andy.

Out of all the session people they've brought in over the years, Dom is by far the weakest. His playing is average at best. Listening to the albums that Warren played on compared to RCM and AYNIN just underlines the fact that he's pretty mediocre. One of the luxuries they have is that they can bring in other people - and they should make more use of that freedom. That includes bringing in a guitar player who can do their music justice.

Another guitarist? If you noticed Dom has not been in any studio pics as of late and I did mention that a couple of months ago? I still like Dom and think he is great as a session player and did well on AYNIN--I hope this is not true--if he is gone then bring back Andy!! lol I think John is good but he quit the Chili Peppers--maybe Dom was tired of them making new music to see it get scrapped and start all over again? ??

Dom Brown mediocre ?? Are you serious? He's an incredibly gifted musician.A very respected man. He's not responsible for the terrible tracks from RCM and I thought that his playing was excellent on All You Need Is Now.
John Frusciante is also an amazing guitarist with a particular sound.I love the solo albums. He will bring so much to DD.I guess that he will play on a couple of tracks...

Admittedly I cringe a little every time I hear Dom's solo on Ordinary World. And Dom's parts sound weak when I compare Andy to Dom on HLTW and AVTAK.
But yes, his guitar work on the AYNIN album was great. It fit really well.
