Just asking, as this is some kind of 'huge' thing, isn't!?! I made the other two lists as I was requesting them myself, so I put lots of, lots of time in them. I already was asked some time ago if I could make a list with all 'released' live-versions of songs, but honestly this 'live' thing is not my special area! I am sure that lots of people here on the forum are far better qualified when it comes to this subject! Also, isn't 'wiki' listing something like this? I don't know really... But what about this idea: lets make an open list. Anyone could copy and paste the dates from here: www.duranduran.com/wordpress/duran-duran-complete-tour-list/paste the dates where you know that soundboard recordings were made and where they can be found, like this: --- FASTER THAN LIGHT TOUR July 9, 1981 – Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK (audio bootlegged on DECADENT DURANTICS LP & CD-R) CARELESS MEMORIES TOUR November 30, 1981 – Chichester Festival Theatre, Chichester, UK (video broadcasted on TV - OFF THE RECORD) December 17, 1981 – Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK (released on BBC IN CONCERT in 2010) --- and so on... just an idea - what do you and anyone else think?

Okay... I'm stupid when it comes to certain audio terms. What exactly is a soundboard recording?

Okay... I'm stupid when it comes to certain audio terms. What exactly is a soundboard recording? What is a soundboard recording? These are "live" concerts recorded with professional equipment. During a concert the signal from the instruments usually channels through the central mixing station, or soundboard, before going to the PA system. A soundboard recording is a recording that takes place at the soundboard. These recordings are high quality. Among the highest quality bootleg recordings of live performances are the so-called soundboard recordings that are sourced from this mixer output to the speakers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixing_console

Thank you for the quick lesson, ansgar! How do people get these to make bootlegs? Would seem pretty difficult to me... And how would one know if there was a soundboard recording at "their" concert? I'm currently a media communications major and volunteer 2 hours of my time a week at the university radio station. I run the console but have no formal education with audio. Sorry for the questions!

A lot of soundboard recordings are from radio and tv broadcasts, either recorded off the air, captured from digital streams or sourced directly from the station's master copy. There are also promo-only live releases for some bands, and audio is occasionally leaked from insider reference tapes. Bootleggers have sometimes been able to patch directly into the soundboard or speaker wiring, both with and without the knowledge of the sound tech. Lately there are even bootlegs recorded from the wireless monitoring systems used by many artists.

I'm currently on holiday so i can't check for the moment but the decadent durantics concert is not,a soundboard recording if I remember correctly. However, it's a very good audience recording. From the debut era there is the 'live at the Bayou' bootleg that is soundboard. Also the Amsterdam Paradiso concert was broadcast partially so that is soundboard too. This is also the case for the Paris Capitaine Video concert (partially radio-broadcast).

So if something was done on a radio program, there would be a soundboard recording?
