So if something was done on a radio program, there would be a soundboard recording? Yes, there would indeed. some BBC recorded concerts in the eighties were even pressed on vinyl for internal use. These were recordings made by the BBC. In the US, they were done by Westwood One Radio Networks

Speaking of BBC lps... Does anyone know why some have yellow labels and some have green/white labels?

White labels are mostly bootlegs? I think green and yellow are the official ones.
Technically the radio broadcasts were soundboard recordings before being mixing. Sometimes mixing would involve adding crowd noise.
I wouldn't call the BBC LPs soundboard. They were probably mixed from the raw soundboard and then pressed on vinyl. They are more likely PREfm:
Here is a helpful guide I found on the Internet:
AUD - audience recording; sometimes great, sometimes bad, depends on the taper and conditions SBD - soundboard recording, straight line feed from the soundboard; can be great because it's the directly mic'd signal at a show, but often the mix is unbalanced because the concern is the audience and the room preFM - soundboard + audience, balanced and mixed for broadcast; usually sounds great, is the closest to an "official sounding recording". Note it is a straight line feed before broadcast. Could exist as a master CD manufactured and given to stations for broadcast (see BBC Transcription series) FM - recorded after the actual broadcast of the above.
The American versions of the radio shows were often short (to allow for adverts). They were actually two big radio companies in the US. Westwood One and DIR (who did King Biscuit Flower Hour).
All the BBC stuff has been released officially by EMI.
I did a list here of all the UK radio and TV broadcasts.
Create a huge list of all recordings would be very time consuming and not sure if there is enough interest to be honest.

White labels are mostly bootlegs? I think green and yellow are the official ones. Thanks! However i don't mean completely white labeled issues, but green with white labels. (I do own a few bootlegs which have other than white coloured labels). Still a bit strange that the same BBC release can have yellow or green/white labels... Wonder why, maybe yellow is for the local 'market'?

Wonder why, maybe yellow is for the local 'market'? Well, here's one of the green / white label ones. From what I have read, apparently these were later reissued, but were bootlegs. I'm not sure if the actual labels were reproduced or not. This is a yellow label B.B.C. college concert for Duran Duran. These concerts were usually taken from a prior BBC transcription disc (in this, the Duran Duran one was taken from BBC TRANSCRIPTION SERVICE - IN CONCERT 294). The college concerts were for the U.S. market and slightly edited (a song dropped, fading out sooner, fading in later, etc) to allow for commercial breaks. Then there are other BBC labels as well that are green / yellow or black and white:

Thanks! Never would've thought the green/white ones were boots.

Thanks! Never would've thought the green/white ones were boots. Just to clarify, the green / white label picture I posted was a legitimate pressing and not a bootleg.
