fresh!!! ? They change the SETLIST from tour to tour, but almost never on the same tour. Still hungry like the wolf? or looking for LAND? However, we do like to change things around to keep the set sounding fresh, so there are usually a number of interchangeable songs each night – we like the idea of “Cracks in the Pavement.” That’s next time. I sent in a question to Katy some time ago if they would ever consider playing a one-off show in the Royal Albert Hall where they would be playing no singles and hits but fan favourites and album tracks an would sell the tickets at first through their own site. So a real concert for the fans.
In the 2004 UK Tour Book there’s this great list of “songs never played live” by Nick. That made me wonder if you would ever consider playing a one-off show for fans where you would play a selection of these songs, seldom played album tracks and Bsides and wouldn’t play the big hits or singles. Of course we love the hits but as fans we would love to hear you play songs like Late Bar, Anyone Out There, Lonely In Your Nightmare, Shadows On Your Side, The Seventh Stranger, Land, My Antarctica, Breath After Breath, Lady Xanax, etc etc etc. I think the Royal Albert Hall would be a nice venue!
Unfortunately it didn't get answered.
Will send it in again refering to the last Ask Katy.

It does sort of make me laugh when the band throws out the idea that they change the set list up often too, mostly since 3 or 4 songs get switched around on a tour at the most (with the actual show-to-show change being rare as it is... maybe 1 different song if the band is willing to). Yet again, it doesn't really bother me as much as it does for some fans either. I'm not bent on seeing either nothing rare stuff myself, and I doubt the band wants to play a show where no one's reacting to five consecutive b-sides either.
I'm sure there's more variables in it than we can probably imagine either. It could be as simple as not liking a song, or their age not accommodating for 20+ songs a night anymore (and hence more 'hits' and a more 'routine' set list), maybe Simon doesn't want to sing in the song's key, or maybe the song would just sound like crap in a live environment anyway?
In terms of a 'fan only' show, that probably is the only way I could see them getting away without playing any of the singles or 'popular' tracks that we're used to (wasn't there an anonymous poster on here that threw out that possibility a few years ago?). Even then, I'm not sure if the band would be comfortable doing it if a lot of the fans might not even be overly familiar with some of the songs that'd be suggested. Maybe they'd wonder 'Would everyone just stare on while a few sang and danced?'
