Man, I hate to state the obvious, but this really sucks for you. As a rule, I generally avoid anyone who has a screen name that somehow relates to Duran Duran due to potential price gauging. That being said, her having a medical issue - this could be anything - should be something she should make buyers aware of IN HER LISTING to advise bidders that there might be a slight delay when it comes to mailing out items. Also, her shipping method to overseas customers is a bit extreme as I had discussed this with another member of this board. There are only certain foreign countries that I use the international tracking for and the UK is not one of them.

Oh boy... So sorry to read this John. I wonder who this fan is then. Thanks for writing this down as i was interested in one of her items, but after reading this (and two encounters of no replying from her side) makes me decides to avoid her, and not buying anything.
I can understand, Redmumba, you avoid sellers with a Duran-reference in their nickname. But that does not withhold me from trying to make a deal. It worked with others, so i do give them a chance. Besides that i do understand the high prices they ask, as they are selling (a part of) their collection in which they invested money as well as time. So it must hurt to sell for whatever reason. But.... Sellers/Fans must be realistic at the same time, many items will not be sold for prices you once paid for.
(as always there are exceptions but in general people are less willing to pay a huge amount for rare items).

Whilst my item arrived from her in the end - more to do with the ridiculous slow time taken by the ridiculously expensive ebay selling programme, which she says everyone in the US is made to do ( ?) - i got loads of ranting emails from her in the meantime, really high maintenance seller.

the ridiculously expensive ebay selling programme, which she says everyone in the US is made to do ( ?). Pardon? She's talking utter nonsense about everyone in the U.S. having to use that selling program. It's an option people can choose (on paper it looks good, but I think it's much of a hassle). If she's trying to flog that reasoning off on people, then she's quite delusional.
