Nothing to see here, just corporatism at its best. Reminds me of when Molson was able to stop Bell's, a Michigan microbrewery, from calling its flagship summer wheat ale "Solsun" by claiming that it "sounded to much like Molson and might confuse customers". It was, of course, a crock of sh*t, as one is the name of a company and the other is the name of a specific product by another company (and makes sense as it is a summer beer, hence sol and sun...actually it's redundant ). To reasonably think that a consumer who goes to the store looking for Molson Canadian beer might see a display for Bell's Solsun and think "yep, there's my Molson" and buy it instead is ludicrous, but in the end it's all about the capital(ism). When money is the end all, this is what will happen over and over again. The more powerful company will either wear down the smaller one, or just buy the judges/politicians in the first place. Larry Bell flat out said to us at my old job that he knew he could have won the lawsuit eventually, but he didn't have the money to fight it as long as a mega corporation like Molson (as they were then - now they're Molson-Coors. Great...) could throw money at high powered attorneys endlessly...so, he said "f*ck it" and just changed the name to Oberon (I'm surprised Nabisco didn't then sue him claiming it contained the letters to "Oreo" in it).
