All teams spend money, Liverpool spent millions under Houllier in a fruitless effort to win the League. Man Utd paid 30m for Rio Ferdinand only to have him banned for most of a season. The money thing is a poor arguement in football terms.

The money thing is only a part of it, honestly. If Chelsea had been at full strength today, I don't thing we'd have beaten them, honestly. The most we could have hoped for was a draw. I could hear Rafa's delighted yell over here in Dublin when he read that squad sheet.
The thing is, injuries and morale at a club; any club, make an impact on the team's performance. And as a Chelsea fan, Mark's probably better qualified than I am to talk about them.
It was good to see Petr Cech back in action today, though. Here's hoping he makes a full recovery.
