First time poster - I'm a much more casual Duran Duran fan than most on here who's only recently begun to dig deeper into their catalog and saw them live for the first time live last week in Dallas at the American Airlines Center. To say it was an incredible experience would be an understatement - I'd say it's either the best or second best show I've ever attended. I bought second row tickets about a week out from the show at a pretty reasonable price (the name on the tickets was one of Dallas' biggest ticket brokers...not sure why he was offering those tickets at seemingly $150 under the market rate at the time, but I pounced). When we arrived, we were given wristbands and were told "this is so you can be on the railing". My fiancee and I looked at each other and quietly went nuts! We were the third party there and went right up there...we never even saw our seats! From there, we just had the time of our lives!
Pardon the long intro, but now to my question - we're considering going to the September show at Choctaw Casino in Oklahoma or the Tobin Center show in San Antonio and are wondering how these types of shows usually compare to the stadium shows. I called the casino and basically asked if the front row gets to stand at the stage, and I was told that everyone usually just stays in their seats. From the looks of the Tobin Center, looks like a normal concert hall...but is the audience usually on their feet the whole show at this type of venue?
Basically, I'm just trying to find out whether it would be possible to nearly-replicate the experience we had in Dallas. We certainly don't NEED to be in the first row for all our shows, but I'm thinking that we'd have to be in order to justify the putting out the expenses for seeing another leg of the same tour...and even if we ended up in front at one of these venues, if we'd be expected to just sit in place as though Paul Simon was in front of us, I'm afraid I'd have to wait for the next big venue.
Thanks everyone, looking forward to enjoying more DD and these boards!
