I'd sign cards whether I knew the person or not, after all it's the thought that counts and it's nice for people to know they're are being thought about when they need it.

Missbrowneyes - I'm so sorry to hear that. Let me know if you need anything. I like to write Good Luck! in every card. (Just thought you might need a laugh.) Thank you I did.

I'd sign it.
this happened at work we had three families who lost a loved one, two of the former employees I never knew however I signed the card to show that I was sorry to hear of their loss.

maybe it feels disingenuous to them to sign it when they really don't know the person. it doesn't mean they don't feel sympathy. personally, i don't like group projects like this either. i know people's feelings are in the right place, but i'd rather express my feelings in my own way. to say that they have to sign it ruins the sentiment, don't you think? Yeah, I didn't tell the two people what my supervisor said and everyone else signed it today so I'm just letting it be.

I'd sign it. But I wouldn't fault them if they didn't want to sign it..

Missbrowneyes - check your pms girl. I am so very sorry for your loss. sekret - I would just sign - it means a lot to people just to know others are thinking of them and feeling for their pain. But, I wouldn't fret over it if I were you - not worth the aggravation. But isn't that true most of the time with people, not worth the aggravation?
