i just noticed on the ticket info for the MSG police gig "strictly no cameras alowed". is this just standard practice in the states to put that on and i should be fine rocking up with my camera or do i need to take an action plan and slide it down my pants.

Here where I love in Canada. They put that on alomst all ticket..
It's a band by band thing..
Most bands don't mind the cameras, but some bands don't want them.. Especally if you are in the first few rows.

It said the same on my ticket for the Hershey show two weeks ago. The security check was pitiful at best. Flashes were going off left right and center. I'd hold back and watch how thorough security is and then make my move. You can always ask a chick to stick the camera in a tampon box. That trick has worked for me for years.
Have a great time. I still maintain that musically, it is the best show I've ever been to. Wrapped around your finger blew me away.

i figured it was just standard practice and i suppose if they ban cameras they'll have to ban everyones cell phone. cool and yes i'm totally aware this show is going to blow me away. its been a while since a gig has done that. stuart on drums will just be a dream come true to finally hear.

yeah, that's pretty much the norm here in the states with most shows.
depends on the venue and security.... as daisy mentioned, hang back a minute to watch and see how the security check pans out. they usually only have you open your purse/bags to see if you have a camera. if they spot it, they'll either tell you to take it back to your car (or wherever) OR they may ask you to remove the batteries and toss those so that you can't use the camera... if it's a disposable, they'll tell you to chuck that altogether.
what's worked for me in the past is i tell them my batteries died....they can't check to see if they did or not, so they usually don't bother to pester me. the other thing you could do is have a purse or bag big enough to put a discman (cd player) in and hide the camera under it in the bag. they see that, they won't push you to see if there's anything else in the bag (as long as it looks like that's all you have in it).

I went last Sunday night at Fenway Park - I saw tons of cameras (didn't bring mine except a cell phone camera - wish I'd tried a real one!). They did search my bag but not very thorougly. I don't think my ticket said "no cameras" though, not sure.
Oddly enough, it did say in teeny print on the back that the New York Yankees reserved the right to throw me out of the venue. Now, is that standard Ticketbastard wording? At Fenway Park?
It was a really amazing show - wish I'd had better seats but it was great just to be there. Stuart fookin' rocks! Have a great time Les!

From what I have read on some site from bands regarding camera, its usually the venue that doesnt allow them, not the artist/band. (unless it is mentioned prior to the show from the promoter or manager, which I doubt) I had my camera/video when I saw Queen 2005 & 2006 & I was in either the 1st or 2nd row from the catwalk, no one stopped me or the other 1000's that were flashing away. So just scope it out should be fine. HAVE FUN!

Yup, it all depends. Before we saw DD at the new Sears Centre venue last October, I emailed and asked about cameras. The reply stated strictly that there would be NO CAMERAS ALLOWED!!!! as per the band's request.
Not only were there TONS of cameras there, and people snapping away during the entire show (and videotaping as well), but some security guards even took pictures with fans' cameras as the fans posed!
