Would be nice if DD brought back something off PT into the set list. Personally I think ‘Pop Trash Movie’ should’ve been the first single, it’s a great song. Also think a 12” remix of ‘Mars Meets Venus’, or ‘Playing With Uranium’ would’ve worked well... but after ‘Someone Else Not Me’ flopped that was it.... It was a solid album, better than Astronaut, RCM, and Paper Gods imo They will never do that. Only NR was really involved, Simon has eepeatedly expressed his hate for the album. And only a small portion of their fans actually likes it. It’s IMO also not a solid album. I have a video of DD playing in a new york city street circa PTs release where Simon suggest's that the PT LP is the strongest thing DD have ever done. I would however like to read or see an example (if you have one?) of SLB repeatedly suggesting his hate for the album. I know SLB has previously said that Liberty was week yet I can't recall him ever saying he hates any DD product. I know he had writers block during its recording yet can't imagine him using the term hate where Nick and Warren have assisted him with lyrics on an actual official DD release.

I think Simon was mostly unhappy having writers block while making the album. Hating an album seems unlike him. And we now know he wasn't happy with the band dynamic at that time. They will never do that. Only NR was really involved, Simon has eepeatedly expressed his hate for the album. And only a small portion of their fans actually likes it. It’s IMO also not a solid album. Simon le Bon mentioned in a later video interview (can't recall where) that the songs on PT were all too slow, especially SENM which was so slow you almost fell asleep. Also, he stated later that PT was the album which reduced him to the guy phoned in to the study to sing some lines written by someone else in the style that WC dictated.
And all artists say their latest album is tye best they have ever done, as they want to sell these albums.
PT is the only DD album (incl Arcadia and Power Station) of which the reunited 5 (or 4) never have played a track live.

Because PT is too complex for them to play live.. and that’s not meant as a low blow. It’s a fact.

PT is the only DD album (incl Arcadia and Power Station) of which the reunited 5 (or 4) never have played a track live. That's true. However what we need to take into account is that only 50% of the members who made PT are actually still in the band today, the other 50% never contributed to PT whatsoever. So I guess that playing something from PT live makes sense from that perspective. When PT was released and its subsequent concert tour was actually a reality, the majority of the PT LP was played live. I will say this tho, When AYNIN was released over a decade ago now, I think it was only 6 songs from that LP that were played live (well at the gig I attended anyway) and I must say that NEITHER of those songs or ANY others from the AYNIN LP have EVER been played since. In addition to this FACT, the band that actually wrote the AYNIN LP is still that same band today. I wonder why & Who knows why, they haven't? I'm just comparing apples and apples, that's all ! It is a coincidence then that both the PT & AYNIN LP (in all their organic beauty) were independent releases? Just saying ! Ohh & I must add, that when the 5 did reunite, there were only 2 songs that they played live, of all those LPs which AT wasn't on which also includes the contribution of material that WC had made to the mighty DD.

There's only so much non-big-hits DD can play at a concert. That's why I think. It would help if they played a longer set or varied their setlist more often but unfortunately that's not the case. So the focus is always on the big hits and their latest album.

True that AYNIN has also not been olayed live since that tour. It seems that they have the old hits+recent album policy plus 1 or 2 from other albums (Sunrise, White lines)

There just simply isn't room to dig deep, they certainly try to during the 'inbetween' album shows. But playing Pop Trash songs makes no sense, as maybe a handful of people would even know what it was. DD do not dig deep past the 1985 line in the sand. I mean, how much have they played off Notorious, Big Thing, Libery, TWA, Medazza either since reunion (2003)? Not much... Notorious, Skin Trade, I Don't Want Your Love, All She Wants Is, Do You Believe In Shame (rarely), Serious, ,Electric Barbarella (very rarely), OW, CU, TMI, Love Voodoo (rarely), Lay Lady Lay (once I think), White Lines... 13 songs from 1986 - 2000. Only one of these was not a 'single' (Love Voodoo). So really 1 album track from 1986 - 2000. DD, like Depeche Mode, are 'trapped' by their hits. If you want to see album tracks, you need to catch that tour or that's it. My bet is when they tour #15, the only song that might survive from PT is 'Pressure Off'. I would love to see a Pop Trash song hit the setlist, perhaps if they ever did a special anniversary show where they played one song from every album.

It’s notable that during John’s recent interview with Mark Ronson he (Ronson) says something to the affect that AYNIN is one of his favorite tracks he’s worked on with anyone and that he listens to it often. It would be nice if John or someone close to the band remembers that when Duran plays live again, but I’m afraid it will be forgotten, sadly.

Yes a setlist of forgotten songs would be great, let them play deep cuts from PT and Medezza, the big hits from RCM and 911 Is A Joke, Yo Bad Azizi and Venice Drowning as encores... that would make a great show.
But no.
