From NME.com
Lilly Allen has been banned from the US after being stopped at Los Angeles airport.
The singer had her US visa cancelled after being held at an American airport, locked in a cell and strip-searched, reports The Mirror.
"I am trying everything I can to sort this out. I don't like letting my fans down," explained Allen. "It is my intention to play my American dates in September. This depends on authorities granting me a new work visa."
She added: "I want my fans to know that I will do everything I can to be back in America in September. I don't like letting my fans down and this is a situation that I am sure we can sort."
She was challenged by US custom and immigration officers at Los Angeles international airport on Sunday (August 5).
Allen was due to fly into Las Vegas for an awards ceremony, but instead, after negotiations with her lawyer, the singer was released by authorities five hours later and went home.
US immigration officers are understood to have questioned the singer about her arrest in London in March following an alleged clash with a photographer.

Huh? This makes no sense! Lily gets banned, but our country lets Lindsay and Paris drive around drunk and almost kill people and O.J. plays golf and writes a book on how he "would" kill people if he had done it (which he didn't, he really didn't!!).
Whatever...

I don't follow Lily Allen, so what is *this*!? Is she whack? She's young. The only interview I've seen with her was on The Hour www.cbc.ca/thehour/video.php?id=1542During that interview she mentioned she was homesick and bored of touring (due to only having one album out) and wanted to start writing the next album.

from NME.com
Lilly Allen's manager has responded to news that the star has been denied a US visa, calling the reports "rubbish".
Neale Easterby explained that the singer is in fact working in Las Vegas, and has not been denied a visa.
It was reported that Allen was strip searched during a stopover at Los Angeles, after which she was denied a US Visa, banning her from the country.
But Easterby told Billboard: "She's in Las Vegas right now. She will be there until Thursday shooting a video with Common and Kanye West for Common's track 'Drivin' Me Wild'."
Easterby went on to confirm that Allen would be back in the US next month for her scheduled tour dates.

Because I'm not a music 'nerd' (I just take a listen to everything someone throws at me), does NME have a history of getting everything wrong and printing a story? I don't *think* so, but they really f___ed up on this one.

I'm not sure if it's really a case of getting it wrong. I started the thread at 7:30 this morning. The second report from NME is from 1 pm. I think sometimes it's more a case of information or situations change as time goes on. ( Just like single and album releases ) Even if the manager is saying the report was 'rubbish' parts of the report could be true......maybe the manager is doing his job trying to do 'damage control'

Bushies' draconian security laws strike again. Homeland security has access to police files (in Israel at least) and if you have ever been arrested (not convicted) for ANY crime, you will probably be denied a visa, even if the "crime" occured decades ago. There was a case of a senior citizen in Israel who was denied a visa because of a school fight he was involved in when he was 16. I don't personally know about the validity of NME report but there have been several cases of foreign celebrities being denied recently.

Oh, geez, they won't let her in over an arrest? What's one more criminal in this country?
