...and I was asleep and didn't hear about it until hours later Then I found out it hit Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, and Kensington(where I use to live). I'm seeing youtube footage from my neighborhood where I was living a year ago. All I know is that there was a bad lightening rain storm, but all I did was shut my windows and went back to sleep. My current neighborhood has very little gossip, it takes a while to hear any news among the neighbors. I can't even tell when the storm hit but the last one happened in the late 1800's. I didn't even find out about the subways because I wasn't needing to go to manhattan until the evening- I blame "Headline News," I would have caught the correct coverage and not the "man who chased robber in upstate NY" story...ugh...

I have yet to see a tree through a car, but I would be amazed. Thanks for the link, I know now it was before 7am when it touched down. I'm in south brooklyn not close enough to where the damage was strongest. We just got heavy rain early that morning. I remember being worried that another room had its windows wide open, nothing got knocked off the window sills when I checked later, so I just assumed it was a normal rain storm.
yes, its true, highly populated=Brooklyn, I agree ;D

I heard a mention that a tornado might have touched down in New York. But hadn't anything since.. Just you guys got tons of rain that it flooded the subways and shut them down.
Hope that's really the only damage..

It was pretty crazy up here where I live (I'm 90 minutes from NYC). The storm woke me up it was raining so hard.

I'm guessing tornados in Brooklyn is rare. It's good no one got hurt. 1887 or something since the last one. Many of the news reports would joke "Brooklyn Cyclone" and that references both the Rollercoster and Minor League Baseball team in Coney Island. The Red Cross has set up shelters in the areas that got hit. I've figured out the last place the tornado hit was seven blocks away from where I lived last year. I feel very luckly yet worried about how some of the old neighborhood dealt with the early mornng storm.
