Agree with your view when hearing the intro to OW after this new track. I think OW is amazing. Its unfortunate the band killed the intro after Warren left the band when they play it on their recent tours.
Regarding the new track, you get a slightly better idea of it based on the loop posted in another thread. I had done the same thing and the loop works based on the start stop nature of this new track. But it will be hard to tell until the entire song is released. Its like hearing a 14 second sample of the chorus for notorious for the 1st time. What to make of it?
I think some of duran's output from AYNIN (AYNIN, Mediterranea) and PG (PO, WATC, UA) are very impressive songs. The era between OW and Ronson had some nice songs too. (Pop trash movie (live version) and Perfect Day).
But the wedding album was a great one.
Shout out to the poster that thought they were only going to play a snippet. You were right!

If you compare the first hour to the second one it becomes clear they haven’t made a decent album since 1993 (I’m not including the Taylor less albums as that wasn’t even Duran Duran as we know it - although I personally love a lot of the songs on those two records). Apart from the odd song here and there their output has been pretty average as far as the quality of the music is concerned. It got worse after Astronaut (which had a handful of decent songs on it) with RCM and AYNIN - and improved slightly with Paper Gods. The contrast between just how good they used to be became even clearer when right after the snippet of Invisible they played the intro of Ordinary World again. Quality wise those two songs seem to be worlds apart - even though I reserve full judgement until I hear the full track. Nothing they’ve done in the last 20 years comes even close to TWA. The bit of the new song they played sounds a little too much like ‘All You Need Is Now’ (the song) to me. I hope I’m wrong. TWA had 3 or4 good songs rest were filler! AyNIn is great! Give them credit still sound fresh! Their new song sounds better than U2 or new Coldplay! Speaking of new albums where is that new cure album???

Also sounds like it is the end of the song.

“Starting to Remember” - John Lennon. Bloody hell, yes! Simon is definitely channeling Lennon.
On another note - Nick sounds a bit stiff!

Thoughts on the snippet of “Invisible”: it’s quite processed but in a good way. I suspect it’s a Ronson production rather than Erol Alkan, but what do I know. I like it, bit of a 80s vibe going on, some aggression. Yeah, so far, so good.

We have to agree to disagree. I think AYNIN is the worst album of their career. A poor rehash of their first two albums with some truly awful lyrics and overproduced vocals. Except for Leopard - which is one of their best songs ever - the album is actual pop trash. We are however in agreement that U2 have been embarrassing themselves since around 2000. If you compare the first hour to the second one it becomes clear they haven’t made a decent album since 1993 (I’m not including the Taylor less albums as that wasn’t even Duran Duran as we know it - although I personally love a lot of the songs on those two records). I hear some of the AYNIN title track in that snippet. And I could be wrong but I believe it is an Alkan production with Coxon on guitar. At least one Ronson track will feature Lykke Li.
Count me in the camp of TWA is mostly filler. A handful of amazing songs surrounded by Liberty 2.0.
As for the second half of Duran 40, there are few bands that have 5 good to great albums in a row plus the run of hit that they did in the 80s. They will always be in the shadow of that insane run.
