My legs feel like jelly, and I'm drenched in sweat (because, hey, what better way to spend a Sunday morning in the middle of a punishing heatwave then to walk for 5 K on blacktop in the middle of the city?), and my left foot is raw, but I'm pretty proud of myself-I made it the whole way when I thought I'd do good to make it a mile. Guess I'm in better shape than I thought. It was amazing too, to see thousands of people there, survivors and supporters alike. Plus it went through the Jazz District & several bands were out there playing for us. That was pretty cool, to have some of those old blues singers out there.
My best friend is a survivor, so it's going to be an annual tradition with us now. Anyone else doing this in their city? Someone said they thought it was a nationwide thing. It's for breast cancer for those who don't know or live outside the US.

Awesome girl..Congrats...I'm sure that KC heat was a killer. It was an early morning walk, and it was still hot, but not quite as bad as it could have been. I stuck a couple of water bottles in the freezer the night before, that helped alot. The newspaper this morning said that over 20,000 people participated.

good for you! it's pretty inspriring isn't it? jen It was. All you had to do was look at all the pink shirts and think about what they went through to be there. Many also had the names of those who died or were too sick to participate on there shirts. Very humbling.
