I definitely know that there are TONS of just "rude for no reason" people out there, believe me, I've dealt with more than my share of them at work.
My problem is the "rude for no reason" employees. I know a lot of them get treated badly by those "rude for no reason" people, but they shouldn't take it out on other customers.
I am never rude to someone who isn't rude to me first, no matter how bad of a day I am having or how bad my last customer or patient was.

Okay, I wasn't gonna say anything BUT, if you think that fast food workers don't mess with your food, think again.....Back in 1987 I worked at Great America (in Santa Clara, CA) and I was in the foods department. Welp, sometimes, for no other reason than boredom, we had a Lead that would spit in things just because. OR he would rub burgers in the dirty grease, cuz he could......it was disgusting! BUT if you pissed him off....I don't even wanna tell you! I was young and to scared to say anything to anyone AND I really liked my job. Funny part, he looked like a young George Michael. So yeah, just sayin.

Okay, before anyone accuses me of being racist, let me clarify here and now that I am far from being so. But is it just me, or should anyone who works in a position where they are dealing with the public have a decent grasp of English? Over the past ten years, the fast food places here have taken on many different nationalities, which isn't such a bad thing.
Until you go to order your food.
Me: "I'd like a Big Mac, regular fries and a small Coke, please." Fast Food Person: *blank look* "Pardon?". Me: "A Big Mac.......regular fries......and a small Coke. Please." FFP: *yet another blank look* Me: *points to big menu behind them* "One of those........one of those.....and one of those. Please and thank you.".
Irish people aren't the most patient people in the world. Try asking a drunken Dub on a Saturday night to point out what he wants. You're more likely to get a Doberman to roll over and play dead than getting a Skanger to calmly point out what he wants.
The upside to this, however, is the amount of amazing and diverse restaraunts we now have in Dublin, Ranging from Italian to Mongolian. Yum. ;D

Nine, I totally understand. And I'm Dutch/German. I can't afford to be racist. I've got a really mixed bloodline, lol. Mom: Irish. Although there could be Spanish or Italian in there somewhere, we're not too sure. Dad: American. Paternal Grandmother: Comanche Native American. Paternal Grandfather: German. ;D

So yeah, just sayin. I agree. I saw so many ick things when I worked in food. One place didn't allow workers to wear gloves while wrapping burgers. One employee had a bleeding cut on her hand. Another place (a nice restaurant) had what I call the throw everything cook. He would literally throw whatever he could find in food. One time he threw food from the garbage bin in a salad. Another fast food joint would drop food all the time. They didn't even wash it off.

I think apathy plays a big part in poor service. I was at Taco Bell once and was shortchanged a dollar; the order was for $3.99 and I gave the cashier a $5 bill. She gave me a penny, then slammed the cash drawer shut and just walked away. I had to call her back to let her know she owed me another dollar, which she gave me in a rather 'sheesh, why are you bothering me with this' kinda way. Can't remember if she even apologized. Then I had to ask for the nachos I'd ordered, which they'd left off the tray (I watched them take them from the rack and hand them to me, so I don't think they did anything nasty to them...).

I work in the kitchen of a small Greek Restuarant, Family Owned.. Sometimes I help out in the front.. Clear Tables, answer the phone, get ice.. Etc...
The servers keep asking me why I don't want to a server, because they know and I know I would make more money.. Umm because I don't have to deal with the customers and I probably break the computerize tiel the first day out..
I like it in the back, most of the time.. and if something major happens I can hide in my dark little corner of the kitchen..
it's a great place to work at and the owners are really nice and talkable.. but don't get the father mad.. Oh boy he's your old country Greek and you'll be hearing from him for days..

I hear ya, I used to work in fast food (Burger King, A&W)and if I displayed the rude attitude most fast food workers give these days, I would've been fired right there on the spot.

I find our Sonic has the nicest workers, and they have never screwed up my order.
