what the hell is with fast food workers now a days?? I don't frequent fast food places often, but when I do, 9 times out of 10, they are so rude!!

The husband, baby and I were out running some errands and decided to stop by Wendy's on the way home. I'm driving, so I place my husbands order, then I order myself a salad. The lady says something, but the drive through speaker is going in and out and I didn't hear her. I said "I'm sorry", and she answers very sarcastically and slowly "I said.. WHAT- KIND- OF- DRESS- ING- DO- YOU- WANT?".

I'm usually very easy going unless someone is rude to me, I said "Hold on, before you go getting an attitude with me, come out here and fix your speaker so you don't have to be inconvenienced by repeating yourself!!"

My husband cancelled the order because he didn't want anyone spitting in his food, LOL!!

My first job was Burger King and although it was far from the greatest, we were never rude, we'd get in trouble.

LOL I love your responce. They are at the bottom of the pay scale their manager is probably doing nothing and being mean to them, oh and usually they are all over worked. So they have to be rude and take it out on you.

LOL, my husband was so embarrassed!! It doesn't bother him, he says as long as he gets his food and it's right, he doesn't care.

But I'm saying....99% of the time, they don't even say "Hi" or anything. I don't expect them to get into an in depth conversation with me, but at least say "Hi" and "Thank you" or "Have a nice day" or something. They just stick their hand out for the money and then hand you your food and that's it.

I'd love to have a job as the official "slap the shit out of people" person!! LOL!! ;D

Oh, man..........

The last time I went through the McDonald's drive thru, the girl kept repeated my order three times, getting shittier each time, and when I pulled around to give her my money, I found out why.......

She was taking orders while talking on her cell phone. She told me to hold on and then told whoever she was on the phone with to hold on and in a perfect deadpan told me how much my order came to, blowing her breath out as she did.

I pulled up to the next window, where there was a manager working close enough to the (very nice) lady handing out the orders. I suggested his window wouldn't be so backed up if his other drive thru employee would get off the damn phone. I'm not usually a beeaatch like that, but my first job was working a drive thru, too......rudeness of any sort would get me fired.

I heard a horror story on NPR the other day about how the cattle are raised for fast food restaurants. I eat meat, but I will never eat it again in a fast food place. It is simply too nasty.

@ ivyagogo..Yeah, that's why I don't really do fast food and will get a salad. I usually don't eat beef (maybe once in a blue moon), just chicken mainly and still not usually from a fast food place.

@ somenewromantic..I know, we'd get in big trouble for any kind of rudeness back in the day. It wasn't great, but it was a job and it's like, if you hate it so much, work somewhere else.

My husband hates going to a certain McDonald drive-thru.. Not for rudeness but rather on more then a few occasions they forget part of our order.. A order of fries etc...


Plus they put in new speaker order stations in, and told out the person to person ordering which they we prefer.. The new speaker system is good and all, even shows your order and the total.. But you think you be able to up closer to it so you can hear the person and you don't have to shout across a 3-4 foot gap..

We really only go to McDonald's anymore id for our son after hid Gymnastics class every week.. We'll go through the drive-thru for him and then go to Subway for us..

Minimum wage is definitely one reason. But honestly, after working for many years at a fast food restaurant (even making it to middle management! Ohhhh!), the other side of the counter is that you should see how some people act at these places.

It like this at the counter.

"Hello, welcome to ______. May I help you?"
"Yeah, what do you have?"
(Turn around to make sure the enormous menu board didn't up and leave while my back was turned)
"Yeah, I'll have a.....ummm....I'll have a....hmmmm...what's on a...?"

Honestly, after putting up with that and worse for 8 hours, I tended to tell people to just go to the competitor down the street.

Alot of minimum wage workers do have bad attitudes--and it's not just in fast food. (I just had a bad experience tonight at the local gas station while buying my winning powerball ticket--but that's another story!)
Corene, I understand where you're coming from. I worked fast food in high school and now I'm an imaging tech. I have worked in hospitals and doctor's office. Dealing with jerky people can really be a pain in the ass!!
