Another great podcast - I think this was meant to be the last one, but they still have to do Big Bang Generation! They better do BBG, it’s my favorite song on the album! Someone please contact him! Be great to hear sbout BBG and perhaps the b-sides. Good podcast, I thought I had read that Simon was responsible for the guitar at the end of Michael, but it seems Anthony played it. Perhaps it was Simon who came up with it.

He did mention Ball & Chain in one of them - that it was an early demo the band had for the sessions & “not that good” 🤣😂. (I like it just fine, but I love this era, so I am definitely biased.) gabby do you remember the Duran Duran hotline? Didn’t Simon play a little bit of a new song on there at one point in 1996-97? I feel like it could have been Michael….?

Would pay GOOD money to hear that again! Was incredible!

I was pretty amazed to hear that AJR played the "gong" guitar sound at the end of Michael. That is possibly my favorite musical moment of Medazzaland and thought for sure it was something Warren had played.
(*Edit. I even seem to recall an interview with Warren where he talked about that sound being a "sonic palate cleanser" for the next song. So interesting.)
Medazzaland is easily my favorite DD album, but it's been so interesting to find out AJR and Bob St John are responsible for so many of things I love about it!

Medazzaland is easily my favorite DD album, but it's been so interesting to find out AJR and Bob St John are responsible for so many of things I love about it! Wow that’s interesting sfl, coulda swore it was WC too I hadn’t ever heard WC describe MYGALTAF ending in such a manner before I’ve always considered it like a Tibetan temple bell sound or something like that, designed to erase all one’s shitty-ness in their life by the songs conclusion, like a cathartic experience to an extent eg MH listening to the song, reaching to his mate slb for help while having all his shittyness erased from his life rather than totally forgetting the song as AJR has described here interesting how differently music talks to us all hey Fascinating Stuff !!! let’s face it, MH was indeed going thru some shitty-ness at the time To think that SLB could see something in MHs personality to be asking/melodically singing such a question as “and I know that you’re gonna call, if ya need me, when ya need me” etc And the fact that MH never called but tragically lost his life adds some “tragic” profoundness to the track when taking into account the song was released well before MH’s passing it’s the stuff goose bumps derive themselves from Such an underrated lp and indeed there’s lack of awareness for this song considering MH and SLB were close friends
