WHAT THE f___?!?! What happened to the other side of the equation? Men have to transmit it, although they don't get cervical cancer because...duh...they don't have a CERVIX! See, this whole thing about HPV being a sexually transmitted disease is gonna throw cervical cancer in the closet. "Oh, you have cervical cancer? Well, you must have been slut!." I'm NOT saying that the truth about HPV transmission should be swept under the rug, but when religious groups would rather have a girl risk getting HPV and potentially have cervical cancer develop than to protect her, sex be damned, I wanna puke. You said it, Carina..........nothing's changed at all in the attitudes of women and men. Men do transmit HPV, women get cancer from the HPV, and religious groups try to prevent women from getting this shot.............men are still the studs and girls are still the sluts.........

Sadly this is alot more common than people realize, and in some countries families are actually rewarded for this. Read the Princess trilogy by Jean Sasson & Princess Sultana of Saudi Arabia. Appalling doesn't even begin to cover the abuses many women suffer in those countries. I second these books. They opened my mind. I emailed the author a few years ago. She emailed me back with the updates of this family. What's really sad is that Jordan is one of the more moderate Arab countries. If this happens there, be assured it happens much more in places like Saudi Arabia. Sadly, there are religious fanatics in all parts of the world. You said it, Carina..........nothing's changed at all in the attitudes of women and men. Men do transmit HPV, women get cancer from the HPV, and religious groups try to prevent women from getting this shot.............men are still the studs and girls are still the sluts......... Nothing makes me madder than when men try to prevent medical to women because they had sex. What business is it of these groups? What if a woman got HPV from being raped? Doesn't matter to these people.

Women are still STONED to death in Saudi Arabia. I never saw one while I was there, but some of the people in my squadron did.
I'll tell you what I'd like to do........see the look on one of these smug, self-righteous bastard's faces when we ask them how--because there's only one way I can think of--to prevent male promiscuity?!

I believe one of the books mentioned have an instance of a woman being stoned. I'm pretty sure it had to do with premarital sex (or rape). As scary as some religious fanatics are here, nothing compares to Saudi Arabia. I remember hearing that American female soldiers were stunned by how mistreated women are in Saudi Arabia.

Yeah, most were, la princess.
When I was in tech school, Saudi officers were trained in intelligence procedures, etc. (And you wonder that 19 of the hijackers on 9/11 were Saudi, and that the Saudis are our friends. Snort. Yeah, right.) I went to school with these men (although they were in a class unto themselves--protocol--they didn't have the security clearance the rest of us did). We had to share common areas, smoking areas, etc. I steered clear of them, not wanting to get in any trouble, because one woman who went to school there had gone out to have a cigarette one day (the Saudi officers would retreat to one side of the pavilion, when girls were coming; although they might speak to some of the men--they MIGHT). But Lena--a friend of mine--got formally reprimanded because one of them did say something to her one day when she didn't move to the side to give him the whole sidewalk and she sweetly told him to f___ off. We were not allowed to be verbally abusive to them, even here, but we told them to take their attitudes about the women walking around with our sleeves down in the West Texas summer time and shove it--diplomatically, of course.
Anyway--I had been exposed to these men and their contempt for women in general and American women in particular before I got in-country over there. Of course, when we were over there, it was a different story--you minded your manners, wore the veil off base, kept your sleeves rolled down and your cap pulled down over your eyes on base, didn't look them in the eye.

The instance you're probably thinking of was that of a 12 year old girl who was gang raped by her brother's friends. They said she "led them on" when all she did was poke her head in a room to tell them to turn down their music. She became pregnant & right after giving birth was taken directly out to be stoned.
