Ok, i'm doing some research on this release from 1980. and saw: "In 1980, before the EMI record deal happened, the band had intended to release a 7" single on their own Tritec label. They recorded 'Planet Earth' and 'Is There Anyone Out There?' and printed 5,000 labels with a Duran Duran logo, designed by John Warwicker. The single was never released, and Nick Rhodes now owns the only copy of this record, which was pressed as an acetate." Ok, i also see there is a 12 inch version: www.discogs.com/release/4136343-Duran-Duran-Planet-Earthis this the same label? also found this article : www.popmatters.com/136585-switch-it-on-the-birth-of-duran-duran-2496082539.htmland some other references : a badge with the design duranduranboard.proboards.com/post/323833/threadand duranduran.fandom.com/wiki/Planet_Earth_/_Is_There_Anyone_Out_There%3F_-_UK:_TRI_001so did someone find the label and stick it on the regular white label? 3 people say they have it. 1 copy was mentioned from 2 years from German club on popsike : www.popsike.com/DURAN-DURAN-PLANET-EARTH-ONE-SIDED-12-TEST-PRESSING-MINT-UK-1980/293564534957.htmlDURAN DURAN - PLANET EARTH TRIDENT 001 UK 1980 MEGA RARE TESTPRESS THIS IS THE ONLY EVER OFFERED TRIDENT TESTPRESS WITH TRIDENT LABEL RELEASED IN 1980 NOT IN 1981 AS THE EMI RELEASE THIS IS THE VERY RARE 1ST ONE SIDED TESTPRESS EVER VINYL PLAYTESTED MINT- TOP HIGHLIGHT FOR ALL DURAN DURAN FANS IN THE WORLD !! There is no 12" with that Warwicker label, it doesn't exist.
Somebody just glued the label onto a 1981 stamped promo to make it look like a supposedly 1980 one. Only labels for a 7" were printed, and this is a 7" label, hence the yellow label (of the 1981 promo 12") is shown at the rim. When a record is made the label is pressed onto the vinyl and you can see on too of the label it shows the white of the paper itself so it is clearly glued on it. People do weird things to sell you things...
As for that 12" being one-sided... EMI released two versions one sided 12"s: one with the single version of Planet Earth and one with the night version of Planet Earth.

Yep. Just a label that’s been stuck to a record, nothing special here.

Yep. Just a label that’s been stuck to a record, nothing special here. right, but were all the labels destroyed. where did they come from. it is special as far as the label goes. that's what i'm trying to find out. it is of historical value. later -1

Not all were destroyed, several have come up for sale in the last 20 years on eBay. I know a few that have them.
Not sure how long I’ll have to wait to get hold of them…

i got the record now. its a pretty cool looking label.
its very hard getting any information about it, the seller is not sure who had it, or where it came from. there are 2 other people on discogs, but they don't seem to know either. later -1

so record collector has it worth UKP 200 which is about right, if you go by popsike, and especially discogs. so maybe they confirmed it is that valuable. well, thats some more information about it now. i posted the rest of the article of the rare items here: duranduranboard.proboards.com/post/474678/threadit is weird they mention that there are 5000 pressings of the 12 inch. i've noticed some other errors in the article too. later || || | | ne gative 1

It is weird they mention 5000 were pressed... maybe of the one sided promo 5000 were made but not with the Warwicker label. It is a 7" label which were printed for the planned 7" release and apparantly someone glued it to a later promo 12". There is no 12" with Planet Earth Bob Lamb versions.
