So I have a question about tipping people. The other day I got my carpets cleaned. I wondered & wondered if you were to tip those guys or not. They did a GREAT job & so I chose to tip them. But, are they really people you are to tip? Also, when I went to the salon yesterday to get my haircut, I of course tipped my gal as always. But then I had a gift certificate to play with. It was an local Aveda Salon/Spa and so one of the random gals up front was helping me pick out Aveda products & makeup to blow my money on. Should I have tipped HER? ? It's always confusing as to when to tip or not, and most often I will err on the side of tipping such as in the case of the carpet guys, but that gal at the Salon had me stumped.

I'm not sure either but, if I get a really good waiter not only do I leave a good tip I also let the manager know what good service I got. When I get my hair done (I go to the same girl every time) I usually give her $5. I don't think you need to tip the Aveda girl. Also! When I get my dogs groomed, I tip the groomer.

I tend to tip on the high end, but I have to admit, I don't usually run into those scenarios as I usually just rent a cleaner and to the carpets myself. I don't think you needed to tip the girl who helped you pick out products any more than you would tip a bookseller helping you find the right book.

Yeah I wouldnt tip her . Most of the time they cant take tips. If a makeup artist does your makeup for an event tip is nice. I could never take tips at Estee Lauder. She also gets a percentage of the product that you buy. I need to get back to work .. Lunch is over lol

Rule of thumb is if it is a service or not. Groomer = service Carpet cleaner = service Wait staff = service Someone pointing you in the right direction on a product = doing their job and not providing a service. Now as I am giving you advice and providing you a service....give me some Karma! j/k of course ;D
