With respect, you are right it's what I think. Although my opinion is based on extensive interviews and quotes from Duran themselves in 1986. To be honest I don't hear any musical references or recognisable elements in 'Take it to the me' to the final finished 'Notorious' single. I do think that both tracks are unmistakably recognisable as being from the same time period and sessions. We will never know for sure who is 'right' or what happened exactly. Only the bandmembers know and even they don't cause they probably forgot or don't care But it's always nice to speculate and research these things. For now there are 2 'truths' about 'Take it to me', anyone else? Lol there certainly are 👍 The key piece is the drum pattern for me, it’s distinctive and is recognisable to the one played by SF on the final track. They had called this Notorious from the outset and this was the canvass that was painted on and modified.

If this became the notorious track we know i cant tell i wasnt in the studio with them at that time. lol ive listened to this demo a lot and i love the verses. I think this song had to be in the notorious album. Has a great JT bassline and what Simons Sings in the verses is very catchy and very Duran. NOw a lot of the Notorious demos sound a lot like the good old DD. I never undestood why the final product was that different. it feels like the had the songs and they said ok. These sounds like DD lets make them sound like they came form a different band.
