A fellow Duranie sent me this file. Listen to the crowd noise from the Sirius broadcast as well as this Duran video of the track and compare it to this mp3 file. Hopefully, I uploaded this file here ok. It was downscaled to mp3 format to fit on this site. The original recording was made from the floor and recorded at 192 24 bit (for those audiophiles out there). This is what bums me out. The natural crowd noise that was going on that night at MSG was fine for a recording. For all the new songs, most of the crowd was listening and there was not this crazy crowd noise. When I heard the crowd noise on the Sirius and Duran video above, just don't know what to make of it. I suspect Duran knew nothing about it.

this single has a lyric video an official video and also remixes. its a pitty this wasnt a big hit. if this was released as the lead single for the deluxe DM version and not new moon i think it would have a bigger impact. I mean now Halloween is not even a memory. Everybody is ready for Xmas and we are given a halloween video. Very bad timing. Video is very cool though. A day late and dollar short--I don't get how long it takes them to do videos these days AFTER the fact..Oh well if anything at least have this ready to go at the end of October! Thanksgiving is next week here in America! Again, poor direction from BMG, Band/Band MGMT/PR/and social media...they all don't seem to care or are on the same page these days. I mean if Reportage does see the light of day, they really need to do what Cure did and release it various multiple media packages! Cure was # 4 on US Billboard and #1 in Vinyl and Album sales! This will most likely be a sales cash grab for Christmas to package these DVD/Blue Ray shows and Vegas and squeeze more money from the die hard fans! Not the fair weather ones.. Comparing DD to The Cure is like comparing apple and oranges, musically and commercially speaking. Cure has a much bigger fanbase. Back in 2000 they released Bloodflowers with no promotion at all and still managed to reach #16 in the Billboard 200 chart, more than 300k copies sold in the US to date. Compare it to Medazzaland or Pop Trash and the difference is abysmal. It can even be compared with Astronaut, which had a ton of promotion but similar outcomes. Songs Of A Lost World is a great album, I personally believe it's the best Cure album in decades. But even if it wasn't that good, it doesn't matter. Commercially, The Cure are a much bigger band than DD, and I'm fine with that. I love both bands.

Commercially, The Cure are a much bigger band than DD, and I'm fine with that. I love both bands. Yes and no..as big as Cure is they played a medium sized venue last tour and it wasn't completely sold out and they haven't played here in years..by me whereas DD played a bigger venue and sold it out! Cure and DM have never gotten a #1 song...you can't get more fans if they don't play or hear your new music! You can't tell me Cure did well with a bigger fan base on US Billboards. My opinion is they released an album on a ton of medium platforms from CD's, cassettes LP, etc..where fans went and bought multiple cassettes CDs etc at 1 time..not this DD formula of adding a song here or there the following year. Most of this legacy bands have a video ready to drop the day the song is released! When was the last time DD did that? A proper video? Depeche Mode flawlessly executed this with Ghosts Again! The song and video were both hits! Cure have never changed their formula..their albums and style all still sounds the same..which brings up another point..should Duran go back to early days and make records that all sound the same? Cause let's be honest Bon Jovi and a ton of other bands all follow this same formula and STILL get their new music played on the radio and Sirius...it's about repetition over and over..if fair weather fans don't hear your music over and over how can it subconsciously be a hit? And if DD is doing their own promotion now as many are saying ..they either don't want to spend the $$$$ and are fine with that, but you can't say you want to work with Taylor Swift for current commercial success! Promotion wise it's not been great since TWA and Astronaut only because Andy came back again..Fab 5...it's just with Duran everything is all over the place and with Cure and Depeche and Bon Jovi etc.. it seems they all follow the same recipe to greater success! I just feel a more lazy approach that DD is taking these days with promotion and videos etc...you can't say you want hits and work with the ultimate A Diva and then just say they are fine releasing songs and not making an impact because they don't care about charting! THEY DO ALL CARE ABOUT CHARTING! They want their new music heard and played too! They still want to be relevant and the only way is to get your new material heard to the masses and not just be another one of those 80's bands playing the greatest hits over and over...

The Cure sold out three consecutive nights at MSG last year. And sold out bigger venues outside the US too (i.e: Estadio Monumental, Santiago, 62k seats, November 2023). It doesn't matter if The Cure or Depeche Mode hasn't got a #1 hit, they are bigger bands and there is plenty of evidence of this on several charts and tickets sold worldwide. Since 1990 The Cure and Depeche Mode had a lot of Top Ten UK and US albums, DM being the most successful of the two. Every DM album since 1990 is a Top Ten US album with the exception of Memento Mori (US #14 which is still great). Spotify numbers of both bands are also bigger than DD's. Having said that, there are very cool DD milestones, like the recent sold out show at MSG, and the viral success of Invisible (which is quite an anomaly), but this is more the exception than the rule. I do agree with you regarding The Cure and Depeche Mode not changing their formula too much. Most of their albums follow a similar pattern (especially The Cure ones). However, I'm not so sure DD should follow this path. One of DD's strengths is that they take risks and change their sound with every album, just like Bowie did before them. Sure, not every DD fan likes that, but this the main reason I like DD more than Cure and DM.

The Cure and Depeche Mode are bigger live bands.
And above all both those bands never spilt at their pick.Ok DM at some point lost Alan Wilder but Alan although very talented wasnt the heart of DM.
Duran on the other hand did split in 1986 and by 2000 they were a different band.
If DD didnt spilt in 1986 their status today would be like U2 The Cure and DM.

Which happens with legacy artists, but that means they put all their eggs in 1 basket and pushed everything 1st week..would love to see that with DD. We see gradual falls every week but to debut at #4 is Great! PG was top 10 at #10 thanks to Warner--I don't see much happening with BMG and DD's promotion company with any new releases if we get Reportage or another new album down the road...
