I don't know how many of you will get this - I'm in NW Ohio and Bob Evans restaurant just started a new radio campaign for their pasta dishes.
It features a girl singing about the dishes to the tune of the 'Habanera' from Bizet's opera "Carmen". Unfortunately the girl can't sing at all and mostly just yells the words, which is the point of the commercial ("OK, so we can't sing -but we make great pasta!"). She shrieks especially loud during the high notes.
Just wanted to say, DAYUM but that commercial is annoying! I turn the volume down on the radio whenever I hear it. It definitely doesn't make me want to go to Bob Evans!
OK, venting over now. And thanks to this new forum, I don't even have to put OT in front of the post. Whee!!

I'm in central OH and am happy not to have heard this yet if it is indeed an Ohio thing, but then I generally tune to another station when the commercials come on!
I do hate this one where they (don't remember who it's for) attempt to get your attention by playing a police or ambulance siren during the commercial. That's so irresponsible.
Yay, no OT!

We have one up here in SE Michigan for Great Wolf Lodge running currently. It's mostly about how kids get bored with snow after the 20th snowfall, and as proof uses a child voice actress voicing various stages of disapproval with the idea of going out to play in the snow.
I know it's not the little girl's fault, but I find her voice very screechy and annoying. Also, it's a bit ironic, since Michigan hasn't really had even *one* good snowfall yet! I don't know if we'll even get five decent snowfalls this year, let alone 20!
LVER, I agree about using sirens in commercials! That always bugs me because if I'm driving I start to think that I have to pull over. I'd think there'd be a law against that sort of thing!
