Today (well, Saturday) when a friend was coming around to our house she spotted a black and white rabbit (clearly an escaped pet!) on the grass opposite our street.
She'd remembered me telling her on Tuesday that I'd seen a rabbit in the same spot when I was on my way to work that day but it had run away from me. When she got to my house she ended up going out with my dad and caught it. Hence the reason there's now a beautiful little bunny in my living room.
Looking at him I don't think he's very old but considering he's been outside for nearly a week he's in immaculate condition. He's got no scratches on him, appears not to be too dehydrated and managed to survive the coldest temperatures we've had so far this winter. He doesn't seem to have any issues with people touching him, picking him up or noises which definately seems to confirm the idea of him being a pet.
He's spent most of the day eating and sleeping and while he's not in a huge cage he's got enough room to stretch out and stand up and seems happy enough. We keep letting him out into the hallway to run around for a bit as well. I used to have a rabbit when I was younger so thankfully I have some idea what to do and as my friend has 2 pet rabbits so she went and got some rabbit food and other things we needed from her house.
We've got some flyers made and are going to be out delievering them tomorrow. Hopefully if some family has lost the rabbit they'll find out we have him and claim him. He's such a stunner I'd hate to think that people dumped him after Christmas. If nobody does claim him there'll be a queue of people I know who'll be after him. I'm just trying not to get too attached!
Excuse the quality of the picture - I took it on my phone.
