Carina - Oh, I see....that is a way different matter then. It would bother me, too, if the point was one of exclusion. It seems like it was an "un-doing" of the work of the Cross, which really is all about forgiveness for anyone.

SNR...I understand how other belief systems, even other Christian ones, might seem sorta weird to you, but truly, middle-of-the-road Christianity is a little bit out there, too, don't you think? A virgin birth? Jesus' miracles? A sword to the side from which water spouted while on the Cross? The mystery of transsubstantiation? Wouldn't it follow that ANYONE who believes in ANYTHING is a li'l bit off their rocker?

Truthfully, Carina--and this probably explains my absence from church for the last decade--sometimes I'm not sure what I believe anymore. I believe the basics, yes. That Christ is the Son of God, that he died for the sins of the world, and that He rose again and ascended into Heaven.........I believe in the Virgin Birth and Jesus' miracles. Beyond that, you got me. Everybody seems to have an opinion about the Bible--and theories are a dime a dozen, and church seems to have become about--like alot of things--money. And I'm sorry if that offends people, I never want to do that.......... I was flipping channels the other night after everyone was sleeping and passed one of the religious channels and they were having their fundraiser to open more T.V. stations worldwide. And I wondered if anyone told them that 2/3 of the world's population doesn't own a T.V. set. Just curious........ And I think (I'm not lumping them all in here, by any means) that alot of ministers--if people are confused--well, there are ministers out there who like it that way. Or.......and again, I am not lumping them all in here--too many times people think that just throwing religion/faith at a problem, that the problem will go away, and that's just not so........faith is wonderful and it is a part of my life.......but people in need often need more than someone just trying to convert them. Again.....not meaning to offend. And, yes, I suppose many aspects of middle-of-the-road Christianity require a great deal of faith.

We didn't attend mass this past Sunday (all getting over being ill). I'm going to have to listen to this. Although I can't say it personally upsets *me.* That being said, when they changed the communion procession, it confused me. It's still weird. Back to front...

I went to a special Grandparent's mass yesterday, and the pastor presided. He used "all."
It takes a long time for Vatican changes to get down to the parish level, but, the change has been dictated.

It has been explained to me, in a church study group and at mass, that the Catholic belief in the book of revelation is that the events happened in the past. It was writted by a jailed Christian (the name escapes me right now, maybe John) who had been starved and tortured under the leader Nero. The Bible also states that no one knows the time or place. Catholics do not believe in the Rapture. There is an entire book written on why this is so.
I have friends of many faiths. We discussed these things at great length after 9/11. Many of them took the events of that day as a sign from the Book or Revelation.
