Now that I think about it, I can see me tearing down the road, full lights and sirens, blaring one of their more upbeat ones....... ;D ("GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY!!") And, now that it's had some time to sink in, I see where it's going to help. I've only got about 40 hours to go in getting my paramedic certification--I'll be finished with that before I'm finished with my bachelor's in nursing. And :s, in nursing school, do alot of things like learn how to chart, write patient care plans and the like--and while we are expected to do things in school like jump up and be able to give CPR if the situation warrants it, we don't get alot of hands-on in things like I will when I am certifying to become a paramedic.......things like patient assessment, starting IV's, intubating patients--that sort of thing. I mean, I'm an LPN, but that don't mean squat. The RNs tell me what to do. ER/trauma :s are having to--and will continue to have to--administer vital treatment to critically ill/injured patients coming into the ER as doctors are more and more often these days simply paged down from their floor in cases of emergency. We gotta pick up the slack till they come down.

It sucks that you didn't know about it earlier, but it sounds like the paramedic training will be very useful for you!
