After speaking with my college advisor today, I found out something that was more than a little disappointing to me.
I'm working on my bachelor's degree in nursing......and specializing in Emergency Medicine.
Come to find out, the state of Georgia, according to my nursing advisor, may make it law that ER personnel (with the exception of doctors) have to have paramedic certification. To work for LifeFlight (which is what I want to eventually do), :s definitely have to have their paramedic certification. Becoming a paramedic was not an idea I was fond of.........I don't mind any of the unpleasant aspect of medicine--I just never wanted to have to be a First Responder.......LifeFlight, while you perform the duties of a paramedic is not a first response team, since the first response team makes the determination that LF needs to be called.
So, in April, on my Fridays, I will begin courses to get my paramedic certification.........which includes, oh, I forget how many hours of ride time.........but, on a much brighter and exciting note:
I GET TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE THE AMBULANCE!!!
And that'll be fun.......... ;D

LOL will they let you play DD in the ambulance.
Just another step towards your goal. But that does suck to be told this now and not in the begining.
LF is a second responder, but maybe they are thinking once they get the victim on LF and something else happens you will be more then prepared with all your training.
Good luck
