undercover.com.au/News-Story.aspx?id=3488November 22nd marks the 10th anniversary of the death of INXS lead singer Michael Hutchence. Michael's bandmates have issued a statement to media as their sole announcement on the anniversary. They say "Andrew, Jon & Tim Farriss, Garry Beers and Kirk Pengilly from INXS would like to acknowledge and extend their sincere gratitude for the many kind thoughts and wishes from friends and fans around the world on the 10th anniversary of the death of their brother Michael Hutchence". "Andrew, Tim, Jon, Garry and Kirk will mark the day in a private manner". "However in response to the many queries received, the band would like to bring attention to the wonderful work done by the Lifeline Australia. www.lifeline.org.au/support_us/raise_awareness/lifeline_advocates . The band would also like to direct fans to www.michaelhutchence.org and www.inxs.com/mhtribute " Peace. Andrew, Jon, Tim, Garry, Kirk Michael Hutchence's died on November 22, 1997 in Sydney, Australia. The band had recently returned home to embark on a tour to promote their 'Elegantly Wasted" album. 37 year old Hutchence was found dead in a Sydney hotel room. He died from strangling in what looks like a sexual act gone wrong. While there was initial talk that the death was a suicide, the coroner fell short of a conclusion. Autoerotic Asphyxiation (the act of strangling yourself during sex) is a possible cause of his death.

OMG, I still remember where I was when I found out the dreadful, news. I originally felt my mind was playing a cruel, joke on me when I heard about Michael Hutchence's death from a newsflash on MTV.

This is eery but I just came across the anniversary as I was wasting time on YouTube. There is a good interview with Michael by Jon Stewart that was done shortly before Michael's death.Apparently the battle over his daughter is heating up too as Bob Geldof wants to change Tiger Lily's last name to Geldof. That's sad.
