F**k it when it comes to traveling and the holidays??? It sucks when your parents are divorced (it still sucks, at the age of 36!!) and you are stressing yourself out to try and make everyone happy. Everyone is happy, except you, LOL!!! It doesn't make it easier traveling with a toddler and 2 dogs, either. I won't get into it, but I need a drank (not a "drink", a drAnk) ;D My ass is staying home for Christmas....if anyone wants to see me, they can come to me!!

Wow, I'm gonna be in the same boat come Christmas time. Seriously, I'll have a 1 year old kid, two dogs, and my husband and I all packed into a car for the 7 hour drive to Grandma's house. Between his family and my divorced parents we'll have 4 different places to visit this year.
I truly know how you feel!

hang in there guys!
My parents are in the area so that's no problem. FIL flies in for Thanksgiving and MIL flies away!!! She doesn't want to be near him. It's going to start getting a little sticky cuz I know she's going to start laying guilt trips one day soon and make us choose between them.
I don't envy you on the traveling bit - we did it with two kids in the car from DC to Ohio. Luckily the dog stayed at my parents. But traveling anywhere with my daughter is not easy so I try to avoid it.
Good luck to all of you!!

I'm glad we all decided to stay home this year. We're all spread out over the entire country, and a few overseas, but I have my mom, a sister, an aunt and a cousin in the area, so that's plenty nearby to make it a good gathering, but not too many to get out of hand.
My family's so informal too, we just wear jeans & have the football games on in the background, and everyone contributes something for the dinner. Oop, I forgot to beg my mom to make the cranberry cole slaw again. Well, maybe she'll surprise us with it.

This is why I'm so glad that all of the hubby's side are Jehovah Witnessess. (No disrespect to anyone intended) We don't have to share family time. Everything we do is with my side.

We're home this year - just the two of us and the kitties. No turkey to cook - I'm making chicken curry instead. YAY!
Now Christmas is a different story. We'll probably be travelling to my MIL in Virginia. Bah.
