I've just done a pair of stories about ancient megaliths in New York, and I got to reference Stonehenge and Newgrange ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newgrange) in Ireland, which is even older. It's fascinating stuff, and it can really knock the shit out of accepted history that we've just been in a steady incline of technological advancement.

Just to show you that ancient sites like this are everywhere, here's one of the stories I did for last week's Kingston Times. The guy I interviewed might sound a little kooky at times, but he was pretty interesting all the same.
If this shit is here, it could also be in your own backyard.
