The Sundance Film Festival is over as far as Park City, Utah is concerned, but if you visit their website ( festival.sundance.org/2007/) you can view all of the short films featured this year. Out of more than 4,000 submissions, only 71 shorts were selected. I'm writing an article this week on filmmaker Ian Olds, whose Bomb was one of the shorts that got a lot of attention this year. It's an oddly desolate piece, but one that finds rare beauty in the desperation of the characters. It can't be easy to create empathy and emotion with just 14 minutes of film, but Olds did a nice job. I'll be checking out many of the other films during the week, and I'd urge you to do the same. And definitely watch Bomb if you've got some time. It's tough to shake loose once you have.

Oh, that's very cool. It's way too hard to catch shorts, even the ones that get good buzz and even when you live in a big metropolitan area. I'll definitely be checking those out. Thanks, stuporfly.
