Okay, I mean this with love:
Why would The Shins become famous when they sound EXACTLY LIKE The Judy Bats!
I swear. if you took someone who didn't know either of these bands' catalogues, you could play songs at random, and they WOULD NEVER be able to tell the difference between the bands.

Maybe it's me but I can tell them apart. I think the Judybats never became popular because of the time they were around. I always liked them. I think Saturday by the Judybats was so underrated. The new Shins song reminds me of the Beach Boys.

Just a bit in the timbre of the voices sets them apart - the nasal of The Judy Bats. But msuically?
If I played just the instrumentals to a stranger, they'd never tell.
Mandolin, buzzy acoustic guitar, lap harp...

I'm pretty sure Clear Static's career (what little there is of it) is no longer. I keep seeing their cd in the cut out bins. One store had it for 99cents. I didn't buy it. |

I'd rather get 99 cents in pennies and whip them at the Clear Static dudes in whatever car wash or Denny's they're stuck working in these days. |

the shins--maybe the most boring band ive ever heard... Even the name is boring. They could have picked a more interesting body part. How bout The Tongues or The Folicles? The Nail Beds...
I find my own nail beds very interesting
