I am glad ya'll posted these becasue I love Skin Trade and haven't heard it live before. It's awesome.
About Simon being sick: I noticed in Houston he would clear his throat and spit in a cup. I only noticed because he went next to the drum set and I had a perfect view. (yay for me-ha)

I was never at any of these shows in the UK, but I have heard bits and pieces of them. I really think the live version of Skin Trade is the best live version of the song ever. I really like Andy and Roger's invovlement in it. I would even go as far as to say that parts of Andy's guitar work are used in the studio mix of Skin Trade. Listen to the guitar playing. It sounds spot on.
Andy, Roger, and John also gave Electric Barbarella a whole new sound. I really dig the fab-five version of it.
Also, weren't these the shows that featured pyro-technics?

Hey I concur - I really enjoy this version of Electric Barbarella - love that guitar solo....gives the song a good kick in the ass!

I was one of the Americans who had the pleasure of going over for the UK Xmas tour. I did 5 shows and Simon was indeed right when he said that Manchester was the best of their last tour.
I totally noticed how into it the crowd was. Far more better than their Brum stop--it was like pulling teeth with that crowd to get them to join in. What boggled my mind was this was BRUM--their hometown--and they were kinda like Eh! at the whole thing. Manchester totally rocked and I would defintely go back to a concert there in the future.
I really don't care for Skin Trade but having the fab 5 do it their way, it so rocked and I didn't mind hearing it. EB was also a jem--having an additional trumpet and trombone players play along with Andy H's sax was cool and of course added to the sound.
YES Dangerous Thunder--these were the shows with the pyros! I SWEAR I think I saw all 5 guys jump when the pyros were first used in Glasgow!!! Too damn funny!!! ;D ;D
These shows really rocked and I don't regret my trip overseas. Who would have thought it was going to be my last time seeing the 5 perform together again.

I saw the first Earls Court gig on that tour. A fantastic show! I found it quite moving a couple of times - the spliff might have had something to do with that though! - but I particularly remember the crowds reaction to Hold Back the Rain instantly followed by The Reflex, I've never seen a Duran crowd spring to life like that before, it was ecstatic!
As someone said earlier, who would have thought it was the last time we'd see the five of them together.
Love Rich x
