Don't care one bit if something is "grandpa talk". Something is either true, partially true, or false, regardless of how it is branded. If I say (what I believe to be) a truth - you can label it anything you want. "Grandpa Talk" doesn't necessarily make anything right or wrong, nor good or bad. Saying "that's Grandpa talk" to me, might as well say "that's English talk", or "that's Coolbarn talk". All mean the same thing - ie - nothing. It's what one says that matters, not how this makes them perceived. And some of the kids I interact with, or who are popular on the internet, can be quick to give advice and talk about things they have never experienced, nor know about. Obviously this is purely anecdotal evidence mind you, but I can only opine based on my experiences - not other people's.
And here's the thing - it's just as bad when "old kids" do it. In fact it's worse - because by now they should be wise enough to know better.
Anyway it's just life's cycle. I/we thought like that when we were younger, and we would have been chastised for it by our parents and grandparents. And the younger generation will say the same thing when their kids are doing it to them. DISCLAIMER: Not all young people are idiots. In fact there are more good ones than bad ones. But sadly it's the bad ones who have a louder voice, and often more influence than they should. Anyway this is a weird topic. But when a 13 year old thread is resurrected out of nowhere better than Lazarus, what do you expect That was more enjoyable than a Duran Duran comeback!

I would just like to point out that I was 13, going on 14, when I knew that I didn't just like Duran Duran, but that I would be a fan for life and wanted to collect everything I could get my hands on. Some 13 year olds know a good thing when they see it, lol.

Some 13 year olds know a good thing when they see it, lol. That leads to an interesting question: Duran Duran were massive from 1982 until 1985. Let's pick an inbetween-point, say 1984. Thirteen year old kids would have been born in 1971. I have a question for anybody born around that time (I was born in 1972 for example) - did anybody here discover Duran Duran after they originally split? Did Notorious get your attention? Did Big Thing do it for you? Maybe even Liberty grabbed you by the short and curlies? For me - I was hooked in '82, when I was 10 years old. I knew they were going to be "my band" as well. I would suggest that MOST people on this forum, of that vintage, would have been fans when they were 13 as well. I don't think there are many 50 year olds who thought "gee that version of 911 Is A Joke was pretty cool, I have to find out more about this Duran Duran". It's time to acknowledge - we were ALL gifted and special teenagers! And now we're special 40-somethings

I was born in 1976, and as a child I listened to my older brothers’ records and I became hooked on DD in 1982 and I constantly listened to the singles, albums and 12" mixes. As a 10 year old though, the Notorious album did nothing for me, (nor did Big Thing) because the change in style did not sound like the DD that I was used to, and so I didn't really listen to much DD again until 1990 when I bought Decade and Liberty on CD.
I loved the Violence of Summer when I heard it and listened to Liberty a lot in 1990, but it was Ordinary World / The Wedding Album in 1993 that started my current obsession with the band’s music and it was then that I revisited the Notorious and Big Thing era (as well as the early 80s and Arcadia material). I was able to appreciate those 2 albums much more at 17 / 18 years old.
I actually like every DD album as each one reminds me of a different period of my life, although the 3 albums I listen the least are Big Thing, Liberty and Thank You (but I do listed a couple of tracks of each most the time)
