And while ranting about people who complained about TG...there was a big hoo ha about Jeremy's "Speed kills" comment at the end of the show as well. Again, he was blatantly JOKING and was in no way glamorising speed as some suggest. when I saw the thread, I thought that's what it was about. not to say Jeremy has NEVER glamourised speed of course...! anyway, watched the show of course... been a big fan for a few years now - and nope, I have no interest in cars whatsoever (apart from those pretty pretty Jags and Aston Martins...!) nothing to add, you've said all the obvious and sensible things, so back to the Hammond drool fest...!

Having seen the episode I don't think there was anything wrong with the way the Hamster's return was done. They did it in typical TG fashion and like any close friends would. What do people want? No mention ever or only a mention in a very serious way? That's just not how it's done on TG and that's why those of us who don't like cars watch it (apart from for Hamster). But back to more pressing matters - did anyone else watch the 5 O'Clock Show when he did that? That was always a nice end to a working day.

Loved the part where James May got Jeremy Clarkson's megaphone, and threw it under a steam roller. And then later when James turfs Clarkson's chips under it? BWAAAA! Adolf Hammond? It was one of the funniest in a while.........but it will never trump the caravan holiday. I loved the look Hamster gave the camera when they replayed his intro to the jetcar with "the worlds biggest accident"... Top Gear Caravan Holiday: "Sorry..........sorry..........sorry..........sorry......". ;D

Having no idea what you guys were talking about, I just watched the YouTube clip that NineTails posted.
From the initial post and comments from the group representing disabled people, I thought Hamster had come on the show paralyzed, in a wheelchair, and barely able to talk.
He looks completely recovered! Yes, the guy was critically injured, yes, his recovery and rehabilitation were probably long and painful, but good god, does this mean he needs to be treated with kid gloves by his best friends forever?

It's just not Jeremy Clarkson's style to treat The Hamster with kid gloves. He certainly feels no need to start now. I don't think Richard would expect him, or James May to treat him differently.

Just found these quotes from Richard about the accident:
"Do you realise how annoyed I am that I've got no marks on me? Absolutely nothing at all, nothing for the pub? There are people who fall off their trikes at the age of four who've got better injuries than me. I've been through hell and I've got nothing to show for it except a chipped tooth! I'm gutted."
"All the fluid had just drained into my eye, apparently it was absolutely monstrous. It looked like some Klingon eye, all lumpy and full of fluid. Apparently, I was told whatever I did not to pull the gauze off. And what did I do? 'Look at this kids, ta-daaa!'"
And from James May, after he went to see Richard in hospital: I was chuffed to see him and although he's muttering, he seems much like the irritating little shit I know and love. Even when he can't say much, he seemed to make as much sense as he does when he can talk normally...Having seen him today I do believe Richard will make a full recovery from this awful crash and, when he's back on his feet, I'm looking forward to going down to the pub with him."
And this just sums up the friendship and attitude they have towards each other. This was what Clarkson said to May when Top Gear won an awrd for Best Factual Programme:
"I told you if one of us crashed we'd win this!"
Someone report the lot of 'em for being so damnned insensitive, quick!

Someone report the lot of 'em for being so damnned insensitive, quick! If Hamster is ok with it; I'm ok with it. But honestly, if anyone had ever made those kinds of comments to me or my own family when they were in an accident, I woulda torn their heads off.
