Am I the only one who has to turn the channel when this comes on? Sometimes I can't even watch the news with Iraq dominating the headlines. Just death, death, death everywhere. I don't even know any of these people but it hurts me every time I hear about another soldier dying in vain. Forget about the monetary cost of this war for a second -- how are we supposed to live with the human cost?
I'm sorry to post such a depressing topic but maybe someone else feels the same way or maybe someone can put this in perspective for me b/c I just can't anymore. I know wars have been going on for centuries and I can live with that. But I can't rationalize this one in my head.

I know what you mean..
All The Canadian Peacemakers who die trying to make their place safer for all is saddening.. A few of the dead were locals..
It's just so sad..

i agree. how many more men and women have to die before they bring them all home?! i know here in MN on the news they showed a couple of families that had kin over there and they were supose to be done with their leave over there in March but now they can't come home until July or August. those family members were not happy at all! you could just see the discusted look on all the family members faces. i don't blame them.

At least if there was some stated objective to this, it might seem that the loss was worth it. "Eradicating terrorism" seems entirely too lofty, and unnecessary. I may vote Republican, but I can't wait for the day that someone comes into power who can forge a new path. Of course, we risk "emboldening the terrorists" if we pull out.

It is sad but on one hand it's a soldier's job to go to war but on the other hand I don't think this war was justified in the first place and what with all the terrorist activities going on in Iraq, it'll just get worse so why not pull all troops out and let the Iraqis get on with rectifying the mess that's been caused there.

it is sad to hear of another soldier everyday. We had two from my area in the past weeks.
I agree its their job they made the choice to join.
It has to be very hard on the families to hear they will be home in March then not home for another few months.
