when i saw the gig in toronto it was: nik kershaw, omd, paul young and power station.
i heard paul young was asked to sing even before robert was involved in the project at all and that he was too busy doing his own thing to have the time to commit to it.
paul young was a killer gig. he was so amazing as a front man. he was wearing knee pads so he could do long runs and then slide on his knees across the stage. plus he's got an amazing voice. he really engaged the crowd and got them pumped up for the power station!

That's a great story, Stup. Thanks for sharing. How did the crowd react to the janitor incident? As you might imagine, the whole place went nuts. Not at first, because if I'm not mistaken he hadn't yet revealed his Arcadia look (black hair, long black coat) to the world. Upon first glance, it just looked like some effeminate lunatic decided the middle of a song was a good time to dramatically sweep across the stage. But once the crowd figured it out, that's when the shrieking began.

that nick rhodes broom thing would be too funny to see unfold before your eyes!!
i know a bootleg exists of that jersey power station show. it came out on vinyl in japan. i don't have it and i would really love a copy, even as an mp3. so if someone here has any version of it at all, please feel free to share it in collector's corner! a few people are after it now!
