1st Post and Question? In relation to Andy Taylor ! Whom I believe wanted to go back to Duran's roots for Reportage but other members directions steered them to RCM. I wonder how Andy feels now when maybe he was right in the first place? On being lucky to hear new album the thoughts of Andy stand out for me as it is wonderful. Hopefully this get Duran back to were we all agree they belong.

Let Andy do his material and DD makes own... Amen to that! It's been what, nearly a half decade since they parted ways? I've never been a musician, but have been involved in various businesses over the years, which the music industry is after all. While things work out at certain points in business endeavors, at certain times, it becomes clear and makes sense for business colleagues to part ways. Same with Duran. It is what it is. Let's move on, and enjoy the new album. Good luck to Andy and good luck to DD in their SEPARATE endeavors, now and always.

Yep. They gave it a shot. It's all we could have hoped for. But to answer the OP's question, I think Andy would probably gloat and say, "I told you so! I told you we should have done this years ago!"

Everyone always says to let the Andy thing go already. I always say that to myself, but it continues to come up in these forums all the time.
Why is that? Maybe it's because deep down we all know something is missing without him there. I don't mind having it brought up every now and again. If that's how people feel, then so be it. It's like therapy to talk about Andy.... and everyone needs a little therapy, right?

In relation to Andy Taylor !..Whom I believe wanted to go back to Duran's roots for Reportage but other members directions steered them to RCM...I wonder how Andy feels now when maybe he was right in the first place?... I think AYNIN and Reportage will be as different as chalk and cheese. Reportage failed because it was poor quality, the record company rejected it, the songs weren't finished properly and there were disgreements in the band. Nobody's heard it so we don't know what it was like, but in my own mind I imagine it was nearer Pop Trash than AYNIN. They (the band) always say that they want to be in touch with their roots when they start recording a new record, but how they interpret that and how it develops depends on who is in the studio at the time, plus any number of timely influences. RCM wasn't a choice instigated by the band, it wasn't Andy voting for Reportage and the rest voting for RCM, that's a total misinterpretation of events. The whole band at the time I'm sure would have been happy taking Reportage through to release, it was the record company who directed them into RCM which, with the exception of Andy, they accepted. But now with a different set of circumstances, with Mark Ronson adding a huge new dimension to the band's creative output, with the benefit of all the hindsight of RCM and Reportage and all the previous albums, and with any number of other influences, it just so happens that everything has fallen into place for this album. I don't think you can say "they should have done this years ago", it's just that the circumstances now have presented the opportunity to make this exceptional album. We should enjoy the ride rather than dwell on past. The past is what makes us what we are today, and it's what made Duran Duran what they are today. You can be certain that if Andy was in the band now AYNIN would sound completely different, so actually I'm quite happy with the way things have panned out. I would like Duran Duran to have a more guitar orientated sound but I'm happy with the way AYNIN sounds and with the excitement that the band and the fans are feeling at the moment about this album.
