'' Before the rain'' gets better with each further listenng, IMO it's up there with the best of Duran Duran's moody atmospheric pieces such as '' the chauffeur' '7th stranger' 'my antartica' 'land' and Arcadia's 'lady Ice'
I love this side of DD's music as well as the soaring chorus, the funky edge, and the experimental side, all of which are showcased on AYNIN the album.

Gorgeous track.
It just drips with melancholy. Definitely the best mood piece they've done since My Antartica.

For some reason I'm really not getting anything from this track. I don't like the fact that the song rips so much of The Chauffeur music.
There are two tracks on the album that lend too much on The Chauffeur

There are two tracks on the album that lend too much on The Chauffeur It does have that dramatic key change like 'the chauffeur' it's also similar to 'seventh stranger' in the pace of the song. It's a grower, give it a few more plays 'The man who stole a leapoard' is taking me a bit of work to really get into it.

No song is "the new" anything, to me. They're all just DD songs inspired or based on elements from previous DD songs. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely over the moon about this album, but I just take it for what it is: Some of the best songs DD have written in at least 20 years that I can relate to some of the best work in their back catalogue.
And yeah, Before The Rain is a fantastic song (Minus that electronic snare drum roll; Roger, use accoustic drums, for God's sake!).

Pretty much agree with this. It's an album full of new music but most of it borrows elements from the first three albums and then bits and bobs from "The Wedding Album", "Liberty" and "Medazzaland". You have Rio moments (Runway Runaway, Mediterranea, Girl Panic), Duran Duran moments (Being Followed, The Man Who Stole A Leopard) and then you have tracks like Leave A Light On which sounds like The Wedding Album or Liberty. Blame The Machines, which has the distinct Rio sound, could also be taken from the Medazzaland recording sessions because of it's vague similarity to Electric Barbarella. And yeah, Before The Rain is a fantastic song (Minus that electronic snare drum roll; Roger, use accoustic drums, for God's sake!). Think you'll find they are military drums! Not "electric snare drums" at all. See here:

" awesome, this sounds like The Chauffeur!" I'd love to replace "Safe" with another Chauffeuresque song! The Chauffeur is one of their best songs ever. Easily top 5. The video is kinda silly though.
