Thanks for posting! Too bad about Ronson. I was really hoping they would follow up AYNIN properly. Who knows, maybe Ronson might get involved in the mixing stage.

Its interesting that Simon Le Bon from a young age was a member of his local church choir and his first first ever record with the Church organist in Pinner appeared on eBay recently.
Katy asked Le Bon about this, maybe this is what inspired the band to record 3 songs with a choir a few days ago. About a year ago, Duran said the new album was shaping up to be Dance style. Now a different direction taking Le Bon back to his musical roots.

Pleased to hear they re going in a new direction with a choir. AYNIN was good but it just reminded me of their first two albums without being as strong as those early efforts, Being Followed, Blame The Machines and Runway Runaway excepted which were right up to par. Duran Duran get me most excited when they pull something out of left field like Notorious and Ordinary World.

Thanks for posting eightblack! That is soo sooo great you got to do that. You lucky person. The photo is almost a classic as well, except Simon looks lonely and worn out.
Very interesting Nicks response to hot drinks. I dont do hot drinks either. Funny!
I know the band are cagey about releasing details at this early stage but I dont think it matters if the internets gets hold of a few names. May be false leads but at least its press and coverage, and a bit of trivia for fans. The demos often have unrelated names anyway, like the Hitchcock notorious demo names, sounds like this time they gone more Carl Sagan.
The choir idea could be interesting. I can see a choir could do the 'cannot but keep from falling apart' section in CU for instance. I also think Nick should do all the videos from now on.

Thank you so much for the post! Great to hear a little bit of NEWS! This and the news about the choir makes me really wonder about the new music. Disappointed as well to hear that Ronson is not at the helm of this one; could be one of the reasons why there's been ample Durantime on the recording process.

Maybe Ronson was booked with other stuff. Ronson got them on track last time and made the band remember who they are VS trying to re -invent themselves to get on the charts ( that never works - " Red Carpet Massacre")
If they can take that mindset with them they'll be OK.

Look at the tracks that Duran Duran made WITHOUT Ronson during the AYNIN sessions. Now compare them to the tracks that ended up on All You Need Is Now. Now shudder as you realise Duran Duran are doing it alone without the calming and astute hand of an extremely suitable and skilled producer like Mark Ronson. I hope and expect the band will prove me wrong. Thank goodness they have no record company to report to and feel pressured to write popular current music in order to have a hit. But a large part of me is worried that the band, left to their own devices, is not as strong as them working with a Mark Ronson, Nile Rodgers, or Colin Thurston. At the end of the day I just hope for another great album from the band regardless of the personnel used during the recording process. But after the success of AYNIN, you can bet there will be plenty of people claiming the band made a mistake producing the record themselves if it turns out not to be as good an album. And of course if it turns out BETTER than All You Need Is Now than it will be an absolute masterstroke - in music the end result always justifies the means

I I don't think that comparison is a good one. Clearly, the best songs of that bunch were produced by Ronson and make up the core of AYIN. The other tracks are extra tracks. If Ronson had chosen to produce the other tracks they would not have become better songs.
