So spot on Trev, you summed up PERFECTLY what I meant. And you did it without writing a novel about it which I probably would have done. And yours was more coherent and easier to read. Actually do me a favour please Trev - STOP writing things for me. You're making me look bad Haha, no worries. I think you do just fine either way, so please keep writing! I'll just step in if I need to clarify your statement when necessary. Wasn't the Wedding Album produced by the band? If so that's a pretty solid piece of work with some of the best songs they have ever written on it. I think there's loads to be optimistic about when it comes this album, their seasoned pro's and amazing at what they do for a living. And remember John wasn't around for Medazzaland and PT so they don't count! ; ) John Jones is credited as a producer along with the band for TWA. But even then, we'd be getting into particulars about the production when we probably don't even know much about it in the first place. Unless we were there, I don't think there's any way of knowing who decided what or if the outside producers said anything significant to change the music. There are a few that you could safely say had a major role in the music though. Nile Rodgers went as far as to play with the band and jam with them, and Ronson made certain suggestions on what song-vibe to emulate - along with bringing in samples to base some of the music around. Sort of surprising that Nile never got a writing credit while Ronson got a few of them on the last album! I do think that the band are capable of writing their own material and having it come out well. Even the haters of Medazzaland and Pop Trash probably can find some songs to like on those albums. But based on their most recent example, the Ronson-produced material did outweigh the quality that the self-produced ones did by a ton. It will be interesting to see how this album comes out if they're doing it on their own though. Yet again, maybe there is someone there already that we don't know about it. Sort of a Michael Patterson-type situation perhaps? (He was credited several times as a producer during the 'Reportage' sessions, yet Andy stated that they didn't have a producer at all in the first place... huh?!)

Am I mistaken? Isn't that Mark Ronson with the choir Duran posted on their website?

With DD you just have to have faith! I believe Ronson will have some imput even if he's not 'officially' involved. He's a fan and friend of the band and I'm sure they'll seek his opinion on certain tracks. I also hope they keep Dom involved on the creative side- to me the DD sound definitely benefits from a guitarist playing a part.
The album I don't expect to see until the end of the year now, so I'm afraid it will be this time next year for a World tour, really do think they need to maybe throw a couple of high profile gigs in sometime this year though- maybe one in Birmingham one in London like they did when playing Birmingham City FC and I think it was Earls Court in 2006.
DD- YOUR FANS NEED YOU!!

So glad you finally got your prize, Eightblack, and it was a day to remember.
I am WORRIED about this album. Is anyone in charge? Why does Simon look tired? Is Nick narking about his lyrics again - hope not. Simon looks gaunt when he loses too much weight. Stay cuddly and well, Simon. Trust him to be making tea! I hope your tea-making was up to his standard, Eightblack!

This thread is funny. no one knows anything. Especially the person who reckons medazzacrapaland is one of their best albums, I'm still mopping my drink up in disbelief. What a sheer ludicrous comment. Yes yes we all have opinions but mad blind fans can be exempt from one regarding that! Reminds me of stolen leopard, I can't stand the fuss of the song. It's average, and the gushing over it makes me cringe as I firmly believe that lots of people (not all mind you) fell in love with title of the track rather than the song, as yes, it's an effing quality track name! On topic of producers and Durans mentioned lack of decent songs without one, wasn't Reportage produced mainly on their own as per Andy's book? I know that Patterson whoever he is was involved early on but from clips I heard I thought they had potential. So going on their own may not be a bad thing......... I hope.

I MEANT that the Wedding Album HAD a producer. Opinions are opinions, cant fault someone for not liking Medazzaland.

I have to say, Medz wallows in its own mud. The tracks are not made by the 'band designed to make you happy'. The album feels like a half hearted midlife crisis on wheels.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not expecting The Wild Boys with all this talk of church choirs. Perhaps they are turning Ordinary World into an opera at last.

Yes, opinions are opinions, but I don't like it when you all don't like my MEDAZZALAND album! - never liked Warren that much - never liked Pop Trash - but I love Medazzaland from the day of release until now, I also like Bored with Prozac and the Internet? & Dark Circles a lot, maybe it's me and my taste of music is a bit strange... Now go on and beat up my MEDAZZALAND
