I have it on good authority that the promo for Pressure Off has only just barely begun. The message from Warner to worried fans: trust us.
And don't ask me where I get my info. It's legitimate.

I have it on good authority that the promo for Pressure Off has only just barely begun. The message from Warner to worried fans: trust us. And don't ask me where I get my info. It's legitimate. I hope you're right Bruises. I'm not going to ask you where you get your info from as instructed. But without this little bit of information, your feel-good post holds as much weight as an Etruscan shrew's thimble. Duran Duran fans don't need all this cloak and dagger intrigue when it comes to Pressure Off, Paper Gods, and Duran Duran marketing in general. Either Warner is going to spend money on their promotion or they're not. For the band's sake I hope Warner IS going to come to the party and promote Duran heavier than they ever have before. But please don't bother to post anything like that unless you have something substantive to back it up. I could just as easily post "I have it on good authority that Warner are not going to bother to promote Duran Duran whatsoever. And don't ask me where I get my info. It's legitimate". Or "I have it on good authority that the world is going to come to an end tomorrow. And don't ask me where I get my info. It's legitimate." (It's Obscurenotion by the way). See, anybody can post anything they want. Without facts, though, posts like that are just like a broken pencil - pointless.

Ok CB, now that you know who I am, and you know that we are friends, and you really know who my super secret source is and how I know them, what ya got to say now, bisnitch?! Okay mystery person, I'll answer. Let's just say that third-hand information coming from a person paid to be enthusiastic about Duran Duran reporting information from a company that is built upon building up the artists on their books doesn't fill me with great anticipation. Spin doctors reporting other spin doctors doesn't exactly get my juices flowing. (Skintwinkie gets my juices flowing however) Leave me firmly in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp. It's all about results, not promises and potential. And so far the results are underwhelming.

Maybe "Pressure Off" was prematurely released before they started US promotion on radio and tv morning and late shows. We were all starving for a new song and DD & Warner Brothers released it. Now everyone is bummed out that radio and the general public aren't as ecstatic to hear a new Duran song. Kind of reminiscent of when "Hungry Like The Wolf" was released unsuccessfully 2 times to radio then "VOILA", the music video went into heavy rotation on MTV and radio stations all over America finally got it. Not expecting the same thing from a band that's been around over 35 years but no one should compare them to U2 who still get radio airplay, after all, U2 are a well respected rock band, whereas, Duran make Dance/Pop, a genre usually made by younger artists. Keep hope alive everyone, just don't shoot for the stars and expect a top 10 single from our favorite band. Cheers mates!

I just want to hear remixes. This song needs remixes. Especially some club extended mixes with a bit less vocals and some more "space" in between things. It feels a bit crowded as it is to me. My favourite part is Janelle's bit toward the end. I really like that part musically.

mavie1 so where are the announcements or bruises for breakfast? My insider says things are coming. I have no reason to doubt them. I don't know specifics. They can't tell me. As coolbarn said, we will all just have to wait and see. I would imagine August is going to be a busy month. I hope so. Well I am assuming a proper video and remixes cause I know radio will not play the song--we need some remixes with more guitar get rid of the intro..did I mention crank up the guitar and make song shorter for radio and we got a shot for XM/Sirus and maybe hitting the dance charts and or Adult Contemporary--chorus is great--keep as is!! lol I did speak to a programmer at Clear Channel/Iheart and song as is will not be played so let's hope they can make a proper remix!!

The issue is though that people will prepared to back anything, if its hot. A lukewarm 'hush hush, slow slow catchee monkey' means it is unlikely to catch fire after several weeks of apathy. I sadly wager that it is already 6 feet under in the uk, maybe different elsewhere.

I sadly wager that it is already 6 feet under in the uk, maybe different elsewhere. I am willing to wager that any song with the proper remix will chart....and how much Warner and Duran want to pay? Payola still exists folks and I am willing if they make a radio edit with more guitars take some oh;s out and intro and that song with proper video will be on the radio--may not chart do to age..but it will be played on Dance and AC..it's just what the record label wants to fork out to make it happen! Absoulte radio is playing the song--just not BBC and like I said that new A-ha song is a bore fest...PO much more lively with a cool chorus! I pick dance songs over Zzzzzzz songs any day....

I came to terms ten years ago that DD won't be getting any significant airplay of its new music. After RCM I thought the band had, too. A TARGETED social media campaign with Facebook (2.5 million likes), Twitter, Instagram, etc. is going to be the band's best bet at exposing self-proclaimed DD fans to the new music. The shot gun approach of radio and talk shows is expensive and won't result in any significant sales bump. That antiquated approach hasn't worked for bands in DD's position for at least 10 years. Forget hits. It isn't going to happen. Focus on album sales, concert tickets, and perhaps licensing.
