Is this the same as the the digital version on i tunes? (With the the annoying sound effects? No, it doesn't have the annoying sound effects! It is a new 'mix' of the live performance, and it sounds great! If there is one thing I should 'complain', then it is the fact that 'Rio' is not in the place where it should be. But this was also with all the other previous AS THE LIGHTS GO DOWN releases. It sounds and feels somehow strange (for me). GREAT RELEASE though!!!

I got mine. When I got close to the front of the line I anxiously watched another customer flip through the box with the 'D' records in it, and was relieved to see 2 copies still there. I paid $30.97 for it (no sales tax in New Hampshire!). Also splurged on the deluxe 30th anniversary edition of INXS' "Kick" that came out a couple of years ago.
RSD is usually a bust for me when I try to take part in it, so this was a nice change.

Got mine yesterday at my local record store for $34.11 with tax. I went around 12:30 and found a line out the door to the store! It wasn't too long and they were just being extra fussy by letting only 10 people in at a time. But honestly I had no idea RSD was such a big deal that I would have needed to devote some serious time to getting the record! I thought I could just stroll in any time maybe even put it off for days. I was in line for maybe 15-20 minutes outside, and a few minutes in the store till the group slowly goes through the RSD selections they had in a separate area in the store. I did get nervous that perhaps they did sell out of the 2 copies they said they had on Friday since I sorely underestimated the popularity of this event. Luckily, they still had the 2 copies and I snatched mine up right away and went straight to the checkout.
I'm not going to open it since it's a present for my sister (who is the keeper of all DD memorabilia), but the cover looks lovely, with embossed graphics and beautiful design. I wonder if they got Malcolm Garrett to do it, or just mimicked the style.

I was happy to find a copy at the third store I got to yesterday. I have listened a few times, and appreciate the sound quality more after a few listens. Better than my old vinyl copy of Arena, certainly... it looks great, too. Glad I got one!

I’ve seen 5 copies in different jb hi-fi stores in NZ. If you really wanted a copy get in touch with them online. I’ve ordered records off them before and they provide a great service.

Is anyone able to convert this to a high quality MP3 ? I am happy to pay someone the cost of the album as I don't have the ability to convert to digital.

Do you know which towns? It makes you search by post code/store online. Try Wellington Central or Palmerston North. It was $5 more in Palmy, but as it is a smaller place it might still be there. The record doesn’t come up on the online store search so best to email the store directly. Good luck!

It seems most copies still available on discogs are located in Italy. Either demand in Italy was overestimated or the maffia got hold of some copies. It's interesting to follow the fluctuation of the prices on discogs. Last week some copies were offered under 40 € Now the lowest price is about 50 € This is all without shipping. What's interesting to see is that there's still copies of Budokan and Thanksigiving vinyl for sale on discogs at reasonable prices. 5500 copies of As The Light Go Down were pressed, that's double the amount of Budokan last year. I have all Duran RSD releases, but never bought them in a record store on record store day...
