Well, couldn't John sing lead vocals? As in, Simon's replacement would be within the group. Hypothetically, speaking?

No way could Simon be replaced!! His voice is an essential part of Duran Duran!! ...that's how I feel too....as I imagine AC/DC fans and Van Halen fans also felt when their singers were replaced. Fact is, if the rest of the band ever decided they'd try to carry on without Simon (for whatever reason), they'd probably find a way to make it work. Look at INXS.

Andy is closer to Simon's vocal range than John would ever be.

I'm sure they could make it work as well. J.D. Fortune does a good job with the original INXS songs; but he's NO Michael H. . . . INXS has not been the same since . . . Just MHO

....you're right. Michael was kind've inconic for INXS. I miss him too, but the rest of the band wanted to carry on, and they are. Duran is not the same for me without Andy either, but they are carrying on with Dom. Just as they carried on without Roger and John in the past. They are all replaceable when you think about it. It's how we feel about it that varies.

There are just some lead singers that are synonymous with their groups. Simon is one of those.
