Could someone please explain what's gonna happen tomorrow? Is there something I should know?

DAT? Are there still studios that use DAT? I would think that it would still be an option for bands who are "cost-minded" and such. Cost-minded? DAT must be way more expensive than CD-R by now. CD-R blanks are priced at mere pennies/cents, and CD-R drives cost a fraction of DAT decks. DAT isn't generally used anymore. If Sphere uses them, perhaps it's b/c the format can't be quickly copied or distributed w/o proper equipment that few people own. That's the only plausible explanation. It's a little more secure than CD-R considering the negligible installed base of DAT decks but it's hardly a guarantee.

Sphere uses DAT extensively - Studio 1 has 3 Sony DAT machines, as does Studio 2, and Studio 3 has 2 Sonys and a Fostex.

Fake new album post that's generated 7 pages so far ... LOL just because there's nothing else to talk about... I think it's about time the band gives an album update trough the official sources. Some signs that the album is progressing. Duran Duran are always so good saying things to the fans without unveiling anything! A message from the band to the fans, work on the album is progressing, things are going great! kind of message. That would be a good start to stop speculation. They are not even posting on dd.com self-taken pics of them in the studio (Nick was great doing these during the recording of the previous two album! Ah Ah!)... I guess they have to be tooooo busy recording, writing, singing, playing, meeting record companies (hopefully!) and stuff to spend some time on the internet as most of us do.

Good point Duranasty!
Something is missing definitely a big time in dd camp...
The work with Ronson started in march last year...It's almost a year.. I hope they wont say that that material is old already and they need a new one..
And I really hope they didn't lost interest, just like some maijor labels did..
New material-bring it on already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no no, I wouldn't want them to rush to deliver the album.
I hope they take ALL the time they need to release THE Duran Duran album we are all waiting for [not just another Duran Duran album]. I'm just talking about communication 'cos I think we are very demanding kind of fans, and they know that. Some more communication on the album progress would be great. I guess that what we all want to hear is that things are going ok with the making of 13th.

you have a double point duranasty, because 1 they could communicate more and 2 it's not THEM who post on the website, it's Kathy or whoever. all they really have to do and email her some stuff, that takes, oh i dunno, 5 minutes? but on the other hand, maybe they are really trully excited with the stuff this time and feel no need to build up hopes. i'm hoping ;D

Updates would be okay except that with Duran, they're always "things are going great! we've got 150 songs written. they're classic Duran Duran. we're all happy and this is the best we've felt in years. we should have it all out by last week!". The updates they've provided over the last decade or so have mostly been spin and none of us really believes much of it. When they say, ".....and we hope to have a new album out by the end of the year", don't we all kinda assume, "the end of next year or the following year"?
My guess is that they're sorting the business side of things out and how they're going to release the music. If they're wanting to go the major label route, then no theres telling what they're doing.
I'm with everyone who wants them to just make a great album. I'd rather wait 8 years for a good album than get a crap album ever two years.
And it'd be kinda cool if they did finish an album, had it ready to be released, and just sprung it on everyone at the last minute with a "New album out next month.......title and track listing to be revealed a week before release.....album cover to be revealed....etc etc.". Ya know, keep the whole thing under wraps, keep the fan base excited up until release. I know that would be hard to do given the way info is available online so far ahead of time, but I bet it could be done. Create some buzz without the hype or spin.
